The season was still successful and we can't forget that. This was a connected team that gave us a season of great memories and we'll never forget the contributions from Terrence Shannon, Marcus Domask, Coleman Hawkins, and the rest of the squad. They will be one of the most remembered teams in line with the Frank Williams/Corey Bradford/Brian Cook/Sergio McClain/company teams from the early 2000s. But, this wasn't their night and I think we as a fanbase have to be realistic that they had troubles against most of the top teams in the country(Purdue twice, Marquette, Tennessee). The Iowa St win validated the season as a success in my book and hopefully the books of all other Illini fans.
I am not surprised by the end result. I fully expected UConn to win but hoped for a competitive game. We got a competitive game for one half but the Illini clearly were overwhelmed and overmatched. Outclassed and outcoached in all facets of the game tonight. BU reverted back to not making in game adjustments and halftime adjustments. I fully put this loss on our coaching staff for not adjusting as the game went. BU's stubbornness in saying they would continue to attack Clingan was one of the dumbest things I've heard him say since he became our coach. With that said, I still support Underwood and glad he's our coach. But, this loss falls on Underwood and coaching staff.
Players should still hold their heads high. They provided Illini Nation with memories and great times
