Absolutely. I dont envy the job of a college basketball head coach They get paid a lot of money, but having to recruit, re-recruit, and coach at the same time is insane.Every year is a complete rebuild for now. It's dizzying.
Underwood has a great eye for talent and will have some everyday guys next year. Big shoes to fill.
Or he loves this team and is sad they lost? People try to read into everything.Really??? Come on.
Yeah, the gameplan was sound. Execution and an unwillingness to abandon it were the issues.RESPECT for having a game plan (trying to foul out Clingan) and sticking to it. Sure didn't work, and sure made for an ugly result, but that was a good scout.
WE HAD A GREAT YEAR! VERY PROUD OF THIS TEAM! WHAT A PLEASURE TO WATCH THEM.
TOO BAD OUR ONE CLUNKER HAPPENED AGAINST SUCH A GOOD TEAM.
I L L . . .
Motivation to work on his shot for next year 4am in the gym! This loss sucked, but seeing Ty crying ruined my night lmao. Great season overall! Can't wait for next season
Game plan is all I can say. I think the players stuck to the game plan to a fault. Not sure why Shannon was MIA tonight.
The usual complimentary stuff, but it was nice to hear -- well coached, nba players, etc. And said that "systematically" they were able to turn it up and win. What he say?
I think Brad did make halftime adjustments. We started shooting more threes in the second half. But when they were not falling, we started to panic and defense just completely collapsed. And it just spiraled out of control. The season was still successful and we can't forget that. This was a connected team that gave us a season of great memories and we'll never forget the contributions from Terrence Shannon, Marcus Domask, Coleman Hawkins, and the rest of the squad. They will be one of the most remembered teams in line with the Frank Williams/Corey Bradford/Brian Cook/Sergio McClain/company teams from the early 2000s. But, this wasn't their night and I think we as a fanbase have to be realistic that they had troubles against most of the top teams in the country(Purdue twice, Marquette, Tennessee). The Iowa St win validated the season as a success in my book and hopefully the books of all other Illini fans.
I am not surprised by the end result. I fully expected UConn to win but hoped for a competitive game. We got a competitive game for one half but the Illini clearly were overwhelmed and overmatched. Outclassed and outcoached in all facets of the game tonight. BU reverted back to not making in game adjustments and halftime adjustments. I fully put this loss on our coaching staff for not adjusting as the game went. BU's stubbornness in saying they would continue to attack Clingan was one of the dumbest things I've heard him say since he became our coach. With that said, I still support Underwood and glad he's our coach. But, this loss falls on Underwood and coaching staff.
Players should still hold their heads high. They provided Illini Nation with memories and great times
When can we start 2021 vs 2024 discourse?Best season since 04-05.
I don't think it's any indication of anything except heis hurting. I've been there, season is over, it really hurts. From pain can come growth, Ty will be here and hungryI have a terrible feeling that Ty is gone because of how tearful and upset he is. I hope I'm wrong...
