Underwood has a great eye for talent and will have some everyday guys next year. Big shoes to fill.

Character is the thing Underwood needs to stay laser-focused upon, and not lose sight of that with me-first guys with gaudy numbers. If Underwood has turned that corner over the last 12 months, hallelujah. I want him to succeed, cause I want the Fighting Illini to succeed.

At halftime I had no idea how it was going to go. No gut feeling either way. Thought it could either go great or illini could implode and everything in between. Unfortunately it was the implosion.

Thorough a$$kicking all the way around. But, still a great season. Go illini

A bad day for every player but Domask to have their worst game of the year. Booty ball and poor shooting = 7 assists. Surprised we had that many. Credit to UConn though....gotta bring your A game or they will kill you.

Next year we need 5 reliable scorers to make a FF run. I’m not sure we ever had that this year. TSJ, MD and CH could always get you points but the other guys could disappear at times. I’m looking at the returning roster and I’m not sure who those guys are.

Awesome season. A bit of shame to see Shannon, Domask, and Hawkins to go out in a uncompetitive game but a loss is a loss and every team but one loses to end the season(also think we lost to national champion).

Gameplan was clearly to take it inside and try to get Clingan in foul court which wasnt a bad idea but the refs simply were allowing a ton of contact. At that pointed needed to adapt and live by the 3pt shot with Clingan on the 3 pt court.

The season was still successful and we can't forget that. This was a connected team that gave us a season of great memories and we'll never forget the contributions from Terrence Shannon, Marcus Domask, Coleman Hawkins, and the rest of the squad. They will be one of the most remembered teams in line with the Frank Williams/Corey Bradford/Brian Cook/Sergio McClain/company teams from the early 2000s. But, this wasn't their night and I think we as a fanbase have to be realistic that they had troubles against most of the top teams in the country(Purdue twice, Marquette, Tennessee). The Iowa St win validated the season as a success in my book and hopefully the books of all other Illini fans.

I am not surprised by the end result. I fully expected UConn to win but hoped for a competitive game. We got a competitive game for one half but the Illini clearly were overwhelmed and overmatched. Outclassed and outcoached in all facets of the game tonight. BU reverted back to not making in game adjustments and halftime adjustments. I fully put this loss on our coaching staff for not adjusting as the game went. BU's stubbornness in saying they would continue to attack Clingan was one of the dumbest things I've heard him say since he became our coach. With that said, I still support Underwood and glad he's our coach. But, this loss falls on Underwood and coaching staff.

Players should still hold their heads high. They provided Illini Nation with memories and great times
I think Brad did make halftime adjustments. We started shooting more threes in the second half. But when they were not falling, we started to panic and defense just completely collapsed. And it just spiraled out of control.

No shame in losing to UConn. Purdue will get stomped by them too if they make it to the final (as will every team).

Even a perfectly coached game, I don’t think we beat them except maybe 1/10 tries. It’s a bad matchup with Clingan and they’re loaded at every position on top of that. But I don’t know what we were thinking not putting Dain in for Ty at half to try something else on Clingan. He only plays 22 mpg, it’s not like it means Dain has to play the whole time. We went down 9-0 to start the game mainly because of the center matchup and we died by staying on that hill to start the second half.

sad to see this season end. a great run for a deserving team. it was breaking my heart to watch Ty so upset on the bench. nothing to hang heads about at all. UConn is a dominant team & I think they’ll win it all. we had a wonderful season & I’m so proud of the team overall & so proud to be an Illini. this team, specifically TSJ, had to overcome some serious obstacles just to get here. nothing but love. 🧡💙
