Would have been great to win that one, but right now Virginia is the better team. Underwood is still figuring out rotations and I think they will be vastly different in February. The journey should be fun.

Learning experience for both the team and coaches. Have to adapt and be flexible. Can’t get sucked into a Bennett offense. Sucks the life out of you.
Learn from it and move on.

This game is the equivalent of the MSU game in FB

A THUD game

BUT, fortunately very early in the season.

21 point from the free throw line.

Plenty of time in the season, play the games, and please stop talking about NT, etc.

We are capable of the likes of the FB game at UM

Just play teh game

Pretty much not what I wanted to see in the last 5 min......but what I expected. Va. showed maturity enhanced by some good breaks while the Illini did not have TSJ showing out in hero mode.

But...........this team played well and there is much to learn...especially by the new guys on how to finish against elite competition. They have the talent but just need to gain the knowledge and competence. Great effort for the most part. This is an excellent Illini team that has an elite ceiling. The fight to reach there is a difficult one....but this group looks hungry and ready to learn.

Thanks for a great weekend by this Fighting Illini team.

A bit disappointing down the stretch, but hard to be upset with going 1-1 this weekend when either Baylor or UCLA going 0-2. This team will win these types of games in March (and April 😉)

UVA was the tougher more experience team in the end and extremely well coached. We simply shot ourselves out of the game with our poor shot selection.

A lot of good and a lot of bad this weekend. Good learning experience for this young group. We'll be fine.

What are you talking about?

We have five guys playing in their first 5 college games against a top ten team. In a neutral environment and we had a lead with under 4 to go.

Just stop with dumb comparisons.

I didn’t much care for how that game was called, but that’s gonna be what it’s like in half of our games and we need to figure out how to deal with it.

Also: Tony Bennett can go whiz up a rope. That was two great basketball teams out there and he eliminated about 15% of the game by grinding things to a halt. Every time I watch these clowns I want a 24 second shot clock.

Zebraball at the end when game was already decided put a bit of a sour taste in a great game and a good weekend. Lots of positives to takeaway.

Refs definitely were not consistent on what they called or reviewed

I don’t think UVA had a flagrant 1 in the 1st half but they spent 5 minutes reviewing a shot clock but not a hook and hold

Refs let the play get physical then there was touch fouls hard to adjust to that

Enough about the refs. We need to rebound a lot better we gave up too many offensive rebounds especially in the 1st half. We needed someone to be the offensive spark and that never happened tonight

Great thing about these early season games is your season is not ruin

Also Need to work on the pick and roll. It was there all game
