It feels like the second X went down, Henry gave up trying to do anything defensively. And look, I get it. Losing an all-world corner completely changes the makeup of a defense. But, man, rushing three and playing to the loosest zone on earth isn’t gonna cut it—especially coming out of a bye week, for goodness' sake. He’s paid to solve problems, and inarguably, we’re at a point where he’s failing massively.

This is the thing, Henry makes what, $700k annually? He’s paid well to figure things out and find solutions, not hold teams to one or two punts a game.

I’d rather lose playing aggressively than sit back in some weird zone with no pass rush. But he’s not doing this in a vacuum.

Just don’t need to hear any sugar coating in subsequent press conferences. Please tell it like it is. Defense is poor and changes need to be made.
If programs are letting go of head coaches in mid season, coordinators are fair game.

If not, bowling this season is in possible jeopardy.

Trying to put all game thread overreacting aside, I really do think this is it for Henry at the end of the season. This is year 3. You can't keep playing the he's young and needs to grow into the job card. This was an unacceptable performance against a good, but still unranked, team.

I like Aaron Henry on a human level, but today the way the defense was structured was unacceptable. It looked like the Oregon game last year where we just dropped 8 and let them pick us apart. We made Demond Williams look like Peyton Manning.

And while there were flaws from the offense, the defense put them in a spot to force throws and force play calls. I can accept those mistakes bc back against the wall, you have to take those shots.

What happened to the defense that totally frustrated USC? How did they look so inept today when you had 2 weeks of prep? This WAS the game to give us a shot at the playoff. Instead we looked inept.

In Bret we trust and I know he’ll get it right. If we go 9-3 I will still be happy. But today fans can and deserve to be upset.

PLEASE SPEND SOME REAL NIL MONEY ON REAL DEFENSIVE LINEMEN, NOT PICKUP CAST OFFS FROM OTHER TEAMS !

A) Time for AH to update his resume;
B) A below average game by Luke;
C) Too many stoooopid penalties;
D) we still have a shot at a very good, if not great season, especially by historic Illini seasons

Let’s finish 4-0 and put the cap on a great two year run. We’ve not seen a two year run like this in . . . forever?

UW’s QB is outstanding. And the IL defense made it as easy as possible for him.

Not sure where IL goes from here. The last 4 games are blah. But IL should be favored in all 4 of them.
I agree, but I don’t think any of them will be easy with a poor defense and the Illini’s penchant of hurting themselves with penalties, etc. I can see NW game being a dog fight.

We had some missed opportunities a fumble that was there for the taking, an interception chance right in the breadbasket and dropped. Must take advantage of those opportunities. Having said that it’s obvious we need more speed.

I said have 2 spies on quarterback. I didn't say have them playing 10 yards off ball and standing there. Dline standing up waiting for kid to leave pocket. 10 seconds to throw. Man that was nasty. Whole big10 season defense giving up 40 pts., per game. I don't wanna hear about injuries. Blitz all 11 if ya have to, try something. Not prevent all game including red zone. Never seen prevent in opposing teams red zone, EVER!
