Week 10 Games

Which is even more amazing when you consider that with their natural enrollment, they would actually be a 5A school. They actually petition the IHSA to let them play up in 6A.
Well let's rectify that and let them beat up on Nazareth for a while! Give the Fox Valley a break. :p

The thing about ESL is is that they actually play some top teams in their non-con every year. They played Mt. Carmel (yes the one in Chicago) in a neutral site game at ISU and only lost by 3. They also won at home against Baltimore St. Francis, who is typically one of the top teams in the state of Maryland, and lost a road game to a school from Texas. Their closest game in their conference season was against an Edwardsville team that is in the 8A quarterfinals.

EIU defeated Lindenwood yesterday 16-10. Ended up being a game where EIU's defense had to come up huge as the Panthers stormed out to a 16-0 1st half lead before having to hang on in the 2nd half. EIU's defense picked off Lindenwood 3 times in the game.

With the win, EIU improves to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big South/OVC Football Association. It also clinches EIU's first winning season since 2017. EIU returns to action Saturday against Tennessee State for Senior Day in Charleston. Kick-off is set for Noon and the game will air on ESPN+.

Watched a couple Atascocita (the Texas team that killed ESL) in a couple of condensed games on YouTube (channel Texas Tone) and it is more evidence that Illinois needs to dabble in Texas recruiting. Scary thing Atascocita finished third in their division, though losing to North Shore is no big thing and I would consider recruiting defensive personnel (players and coaches) from Summer Creek (Atascocita's other loss).

Not ruled targeting. I will direct your attention to the team involved, lol. Roughing the passer was called, but after Newton's ruling we were told targeting included forceable contact to the head/neck. Seems like a textbook case here. 🤷‍♂️

"ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting. When in question, it is a foul. ..."
