EIU defeated Tennessee State 30-17 yesterday. Panthers were led by redshirt freshman RB M.J. Flowers who had 201 yards rushing and 4 TDs. It was his 2nd game this season topping 200 yards.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big South-OVC Football Association. The Panthers will conclude their regular season at Robert Morris on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11:00 AM and the game will air on ESPN+. While qualifying for the FCS playoffs is likely a long shot at this point, 8 wins would be a great accomplishment for the program. 8 wins haven't been achieved since the 2013 season when the Panthers went 12-2.

Yeah thus far the Chris Wilkerson hire has been nothing short of outstanding in his 2nd year. He didn't have a great season last year but that was mainly due to having to clean up the mess that Adam Cushing left. The program was in a really bad place during the Adam Cushing years. Cushing basically tried to run the football program as it if were Northwestern. Which would be a great idea if EIU had the same academic standards that they do in Evanston. Wilkerson is an EIU alum who played in the early 90s when Spoo was the head coach so he knows how to run the program the way it should be.
