This is Week 7 news but I'll put it here.

When you consider that-

1) Indiana-Ohio State is not a protected game
2) The B1G is so big that teams avoid 8 league opponents each regular season
3) Matchups for this year were announced back in Oct 2023

It's quite the great fortune for the Big Ten that Ohio State at Indiana is happening on Oct 17th, also considering-

1) These are the last two National Champions in college football
2) Right now these are the 2 highest ranked B1G teams, & only league teams in the AP Top 10
3) This game will feature the current leading candidate to win the Heisman Trophy
4) This is a rematch of last season's blockbuster Big Ten title game

Talk about a rare matchup, and it's 100% Big Ten.

So today when the designations were released.. Ohio State at Indiana is a Noon ET game on FOX.

Reading around, apparently Noon was the only real option for this colossal matchup.

Imho the Big Ten should have intervened here and made this a night game. I know this would've been a night game in another league.

100% agree. The BIG office is completely lacking in strategic thinking regarding ratings.

when’s the last time Iowa hung 42 on a B1G opponent?
They beat Wisconsin 42-10 in 2024. They have laid some pretty big beat downs on conference foes in recent years. They have been scoring 38+ points on teams three or four times a year. They dropped 40 on Washington the last time they played them two years ago.

I obviously haven’t been playing close attention. in my mind they’ve been winning games or losing games 21-17 for a long time

I’m near the Quad Cities only about 70 miles from Iowa City so there are a lot of Squawkeye fans around. When I was growing up I despised them, they were the Illini’s no. 1 rival as far as I was concerned and Hayden Fry, although a great coach, was annoying and easy to dislike. The rivalry has kind of gone by the wayside since they quit playing every year but it’s still a big deal in this area. They are an interesting program to follow, I never understood why Illinois couldn’t have as successful a program as Iowa. Obviously a big key is finding two good coaches that can run a major program and sticking with them for 20 years plus. A lot of Iowa fans wanted to get rid of Ferentz a couple years ago with all the offensive problems they had over several years with his son as OC but it looks like they made a good decision to stick with him.
