Iowa at 17! My in-laws who went to Iowa always complain about their football team, and I shake my head. 8-10 wins year in year out, and they are disappointed because they can't get over the hump. What a problem to have.
The Brian Ferentz situation was as deserving of fans going insane as any amount of losing ever could be.

And this is where my soft spot for the AP Poll comes in. I am not sure such a "hard science" rating is better than a subjective rating (even with human error) this early in the season. Indiana's impressive start meaning anything rests on UCLA not being awful and Maryland not being bad, haha.

EDIT: I am not necessarily saying I don't think Indiana is good ... maybe they are, and they have certainly put up impressive numbers. However, I think that has to be balanced with Illinois playing much better competition (at least we think).
And the collective of 63 voters effectively has them tied (separated by just 3 points, or less that 2% of the total). One could argue that is indeed balanced.

Also, Penn State moved up more so because Ole Miss lost, and Miami narrowly avoided a loss to VT. Had both those teams won, say in the manner they were favored, Penn State wouldn't have moved an inch.

A month from now, all of this will be sorted out and this discussion will be silly to look back on, but fun because we love CFB so much. Old school CFB fan here, I grew up as a kid opening the newspaper to see the AP and UPI rankings.

All the voters are disclosed and you can easily get in touch with them. I did just that two seasons ago, to get their takes/views on a couple teams and various points in the season. It was really insightful to get individual feedback.
