I think you have to move on but that's a tough job and NIL and the portal kind of killed that program.

They don't have great facilities and Fran relied heavily on multi year guys that he could teach his offensive system to. They were mostly not great athletes but they would score a ton when they had a bunch of guys that had 3/4 years in the program.

Fran has never been a good defensive coach. He has had success by recruiting multiple kids that can shoot, and sometimes a guy that can score inside. Teaches some D and plays to win 85-80. I think he wanted to move on last year but found no takers so stuck around one more time. I think his only option to moving on is dropping down to A10/MVC/MAC level or something like that.

He’s 65. I’d have to think he’d retire rather than take a step down.

So for us that want IU to retain Woodson, we are happy they beat Ohio State right? Even tho technically OSU winning is better for us in the standings. But IU winning helps us in all of the metrics. Feels dirty to feel good about IU winning. Yuck.

I’m not sure if I would ever retire if a school gets a GM position. The conditions are just going to improve and is going to allow coaches to stay away from the part that they normally hate.

I'm not really worried about IU in terms of the conference race so I don't think that aspect matters. A win against OSU (in OT no less) probably doesn't remotely move the needle in terms of the Woodson status. When in doubt, just always root against IU.

I'm with you. It would have been better for us if Indiana would have lost since it's more than likely that they'll be one of the teams that will be vying for the conference tournament byes. As bad as they've been recently, the standings have them right there in the mix.

That said, obviously we're not even half way through the conference schedule.

I was very conflicted myself. However, I was happy to see Luke have such a good (or should I say Goode) game. Especially after all the hate coming his way. And I despise Dan Dakich. Now maybe he'll get off Luke's back.

As a rule, I always root against IU, but all this Luke Goode stuff has me pulling for them. Especially Dan Dakich that pos with his commentary. I didn't like Luke's overly aggressive plays Tuesday, but he'll always be an Illini to me. And at least he smoothed things over with the coaching staff after the scuffle.
