Definitely not a bad performance in totality. Actually a very good performance. They led for the overwhelming majority -- which literally leads me to my point.

What are they in a close game? What are the ways they could beat you? The answer is contested threes. If you look back at that game, almost every shot they took was a low percentage three. If they make them they'll win, if they miss they'll lose. It was the same thing in the game against us -- they just made them at a 46% clip and tonight they missed legitimately all of them.

In contrast if you look back at our game against Purdue, we generate high percentage looks playing off of what the defense allows. You give Keaton a switch on Cluff -- sure we'll go right at the mismatch. Now wanna put two on the ball? Swing, swing wide open threes for Mirk, Tomi, Jake, etc.

Might have been true for this game, but in our close game vs them they found other ways to score down the stretch for the win . THey did take 3 threes in the last 5 mins, making 1..annoyingly the dang game winner LOL

Jared Garcia layup
Rink mask 2 pt jumper
Hoiberg layup
Garcia fts
Garcia tip in
Lawrence 3 for the win

Would also argue with mast and frager, they could run different actions leading to either better 3s (bc you have more scorers you cant leave) or things like post touches for mast and frager can drive it a bit

Do we have to worry about our Purdue win dropping to a q2 win lol

Purdue looks dead. Down 40-29 at the half. Braden Smith is still great but the rest of their guys look like mid-major players. They severely lack athleticism across the roster

No assists for Braden on the first half, which is unusual.

The reason Neb beat us was that their threes were not contested. We were never dialed in on defense and it showed. Also the Saturday Nebraska team will have Mast back and at home in front of a hyper crowd. I truly believe that we are a better team but this will be a challenge.

We have been a dramatically better defensive team since the Neb game. I don't know what coach said this but nothing clears your head like getting the crap kicked out of you.

Michigan and msu play each other twice and are both at purdue
Purdue plays at Nebraska
We win at Nebraska by 4 we will be in good shape

Nebraska has 11 upperclassmen. 7 seniors and 4 juniors so that is a really good reason why they are having a good year. It won't mean nothing if they don't win a ring. It has to be a regular season or conference tournament ring. Hoiberg is a good coach but he only wins with veteran teams. Nebraska maintaining this success year-in, year-out will always be difficult. Hey, at least their program has surpassed Iowa and Minnesota.

Purdue don't impress me much. They are not a contender.
I think they are in a bit of funk now. if tkr, loyer or even benter get back into form that offense can score on anyone. the defense is still the what could limit them but they are no worse than they were last year imo...a team that was one basket away from beating Houston and going to the elite 8.
