Didn’t UTRGV almost beat us in Kofi’s last year?
You are correct, sir. From the Fighting Illini website: A career night from Kofi Cockburn and red-hot shooting by Alphonso Plummer led the Illini to a gritty 94-85 victory over the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley Friday evening at the State Farm Center. Cockburn scored a career-high 38 points, the most points by an Illini since Malcolm Hill dropped 40 vs. Northern Kentucky on Nov. 13, 2016. Cockburn also added ten rebounds

DePaul announced during the 2nd half of tonight's game against EIU that they will retire Dave Corzine's #40 jersey during the Blue Demons' game against Butler on February 22nd. Announcement was a surprise to Corzine, who is doing color commentary on radio for the game.

Purdue at Marquette...i tuned in a few moments ago and some good defense being played
B smith doesn’t look like an all American

Is Marquette playing defense with 6 guys? They disrupt most Purdue passes

Probably stating the obvious, but Purdue without Edey is definitely missing his "easy" buckets against Marquette. There would be times last year where they were struggling and they'd force feed Edey and immediately end a slump and another teams run. They have to work ALOT harder for shots this year and outside of Smith, they don't really have any shot creators. Kaufman-Renn is a fine player, definitely a guy that scraps and can get some post buckets, Loyer is fine, but not very good defensively still, Heide is solid. But outside of Smith, they really aren't that overly talented. I'm a bit surprised they beat Alabama...

I didn’t watch the Purdue-Marquette game. Was the plan to get the ball out of Smith’s hands? Wondering because people seem to be taking shots at him and he did only have 2 TOs and 9 assists.

Purdue getting hammered by Marquette

Can't shoot poorly and also turn it over 15x

I was just informed Braden Smith was the next Magic Johnson the other day so I'm a bit kerfluffled
I must have missed the references to Magic Johnson. But plenty on here said he was overrated and his assists would come way down without the benefit of 4 easy assists just throwing ball to Edey. Yet his assists are up by almost 2 per game. Main impact has been on his shooting, where his percentages have crept down some.

I have no great love for Smith, but he’s a pretty damn good PG. Definitely will be a tougher year without Edey, but so far he’s done well.
