It will be Jones on JonesIf this game continues this way, it will be interesting to see how Purdue handles the pressure defense.
Our only loss is to the #1 team. And we looked a heck of a lot better than KU.
Looking forward to see how Ighodaro matches against Edey.
Yeah, but Illinois needs to beat FAU or Tennessee...or else there is literally no good wins on the non-con schedule. And the B1G is down this year, so it would take a really good record in conference play to make the tournament.
Yeah wasn't bothered by our loss to Marquette and that hasn't changed tonight. They're a legit FF/title contender and we went toe-to-toe with them.
I thought the bigger takeaway is that Self is definitely on ozempicI really like Marquette, they just stuck KU’s hand in the disposal tonight.
That said, I really thought Dickinson took himself and his whole team out of the game. He was playing pretty well and all of the sudden he started in with a bunch of dumb, dirty stuff and was completely ineffective from that point on. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy but I just don’t know what the hell got into KU tonite. I suppose that’s one way to react to a team that’s playing their tail off against you.
Anyway, my phone showed me a picture of myself from 2017 today and all I can say is my God does Bill Self have an obvious rug…
Did you watch the same game we all did? We never trailed by more than 8 points, wouldn't consider that a blowout, even at home. We had many opportunities to win that game, but the better team, and team that night, won.It was kind of a blow out at home. It was a bit closer than the score indicated but Illinois isn't near the level of Marquette, and it wasn't really a close game.
I think Brad was wrong to be so confident about not having a point guard. Maybe Moretti can be that guy, but it's hard to win games without a single player at the most important position in the sport.
Kind of a blowout? It was a 4 point difference with 29 seconds left in the 2nd half. Marquette led most of the game, but never by more than 8 points. It was kind of a blow out at home. It was nowhere close to a blow out. Marquette's largest lead was 8. This wasn't one of those deals where were down 20+ much of the game and ran roughshod in garbage time to make the score look respectable. It was kind of a blow out at home. It was a bit closer than the score indicated but Illinois isn't near the level of Marquette, and it wasn't really a close game.

Marquette's Kolek did not have a good game vs Kansas with 4 TO's and 6 points on 3 for 9 shooting. Marquette wins by 14 even though McCullar has 24 points!
True, but that's an unfair comparison. He had the stat line he did because we couldn't stop him at all. If he is stopped, those opportunities get distributed elsewhere. The game doesn't happen in a vacuum. All other things equal/unchanged, if Kolek had that stat line, we win by double digits.

I was texting my Purdue alum buddy and even he wasn't a fan of that game. That Tenn./Purdue game was ugly as hell but it was also a possible Elite 8 or better match up. I didn't like the officiating, thought they let them maul each other and then called ticky tack fouls so there was no real flow to the game. That said, it helps both teams because in the tourney with different conference officials they will learn to adjust.
