I’m sure IU is better than they showed today but they also showed how antiquated Woodson’s playing style is. Louisville is not more talented than IU but they spread IU out and they couldn’t do anything with it.

It’s just bad roster construction. They brought in 2 good young guards, but they are both slashers and they need space to operate. And Ballo is good (poor man’s Kofi, IMO, but still good) but he is a space eater. When we got Kylan LaTulip showed some really good film to show why Kylan likely had such a low 2 pt % at Zona. There was just no room to operate in the paint with Ballo in there.

Luke is the only spacer they have but he can’t stay in front of 2’s on the perimeter. And IU’s best 3 players play 3-5.

They will win some games but I never thought they would seriously contend for the BIG title.

If UCONN loses to Dayton today, how far do they realistically fall in rankings? It would be near historic to go from #2 to unranked in one week. They are already made history being the fifth team ranked in the top 2 to lose on back-to-back days to unranked opponents. Let's go for a top 2 team losing on back-to-back-to-back days to unranked opponents. It would serve Dan Hurley right.

Is Louisville that good or is Indiana that bad? I'm going to choose to believe it's a little of both.
My take is that the Hoosiers are a group of dysfunctional quitters. Also, Woodson brought in a bunch of specific talents and is trying to get them to play his system...and it is far from working.

These mass transfers are kind of fun, in the sense I care a little more about watching other teams with former Illini.

Sencire is still as we remember. He just broke up a lob by getting his hand about 11 feet in the air, with no regard for how he might land.

I have nothing really against Goode for transferring since he likely would have been buried on the bench here seeing how the year turned out(and Ty redshirting).

However part of me thinks it would be kind of funny to see Indiana be a complete dumpster fire.

A conference matchup in an early season tournament has to be a rare occurrence. It just dawned on me that Colorado and Iowa State are both in the B12. If both teams make the NCAA tourney this year, there is the very small possibility that they play each other 5 times this year (Maui, twice in conference season, B12 tourney, NCAA tourney). Crazy!

I have to say that I love that West Virginia is playing Amani and Sencire so many minutes. It gives me a legit rooting interest in this Zaga vs. WV game. However, from a winning basketball standpoint, while Hansberry is playing pretty well and Harris is being his usual pest self, I'm unconvinced that relying on them this heavily will lead to winning basketball this season. I'm glad it's not us. But I am excited to see how they develop from all this experience.

I can honestly say I am glad every single year when we are not in the announced field for Battle for Atlantis. Something about this gym, stands, lighting and court are just so visually irritating, lol ... I get like a mini-headache just watching games in this tournament. :ROFLMAO:
