Louisville is terrible. I think Louisville will stick with Payne till the end of the season. What coach will come the dog pile of Louisville? Way to go Chicago State. Chicago’s team for now.
I just went down a rabbit hole looking that up a few minutes ago.How does somebody we target end up at Chicago State?
Calling Louisville a dumpster fire wouldn't be doing dumpster fires justice. Why would a coach from any established power conference program even consider taking that on?I don’t …
Louisville has already been kicking the tires on the top names on their list … Mick Cronin, Jerome Tang, Brad Underwood, Sean Miller, Dusty May, Chris Holtmann …
Now - who do I think they end up with ???

never burn your bridges, right?
worked with Quincy.
I think they’d want Mick the most. Don’t know his buyout structure, but how long until he is back in these parts of the country?I don’t …

There’s a reason NW hasn’t won a game at home as a ranked team since the 1950s lmao.
It’ll be Jerome Tang, right?I don’t …

I think we’re closer to Purdue than we are the 3rd best team in the conference as of today…
Of course, then BU to KSU narrative reignited, along with Miller to the beloved. Rinse and repeat. It’ll be Jerome Tang, right?
Ohio State has 1 good win against Alabama. They lost to a good A&M team and Purdue. But they also lost to Penn State. That's probably a stretch. Wisconsin and tOSU both have some good wins and are ranked very close to us in Kenpom/Torvik.
But the B1G gets very messy after the top 4. There is a very real chance the B1G only gets 4 in.
Just noticed Torvik has MSU ahead of Illinois at 22 vs 25. (Wisky and OSU are 26 and 27)Ohio State has 1 good win against Alabama. They lost to a good A&M team and Purdue. But they also lost to Penn State.
Wisconsin has been 30 pieced twice now..
Until Illinois gets blown out or losses a game they shouldn't I'd put us head & shoulders over OSU and Wisconsin right now..but jmo.

I think Illinois’ ceiling has been much more apparent early on and that’s why we’re rated that way on some sites.Just noticed Torvik has MSU ahead of Illinois at 22 vs 25. (Wisky and OSU are 26 and 27)
KenPom has Illinois 18 spots ahead of MSU. (16 vs 34)
You can assume Torvik is using a much higher weight on preseason expectations. I expect them to drop off considerably soon.Just noticed Torvik has MSU ahead of Illinois at 22 vs 25. (Wisky and OSU are 26 and 27)

Louisville is arguably a Blue Blood job (IMO, they are in a 2-team category with Indiana ... either you call both Blue Bloods are neither Blue Boods), they have great facilities, great fan support and (I believe) a lot of money. The questions for me considering taking that job are:I don't understand people's take on the Louisville job. Yes it's a dumpster fire. Seems like in this day fixing that isn't so hard if you have cash, including NIL.
I'd fully expect them to be able to get a good coach. No idea what AD is like so that could change things.

we laugh, but this also hurts us.NET Ranking movement for Northwestern ... #48 --> #84.
Princeton is legit (or appears to be). That Rutgers win isn’t super shiny right now, but they only need to be top 75 for it to become a Q1 win.we laugh, but this also hurts us.
The Big Ten is weak this year. If you look at non-conference wins, the only teams with any good wins outside the Big Ten are us, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.
Then the Big Ten also has teams with bad losses like MSU to James Madison, Maryland to Davidson and UAB, Penn State to 4 mid-majors, Minnesota to San Francisco, Michigan to Long Beach State, Rutgers to Princeton. Now Northwestern to Chicago State. So more bad losses than good wins for the conference as a whole.
We've only won 1 of our 3 big games. No bad losses, with 2.5 cupcakes left. So the concern is, we're surely not going to go 20-0 in conference. Are we going to slip up against one of these mediocre to weak in conference opponents. Are we going to beat the few teams that can actually give our resume a boost? When it comes time for seeding, is the Big Ten going to be lowered because the overall conference is not strong. Could mean the difference between a 2 or a 3, a 4 or a 5, etc.
