We'll see come tournament time. I'm not impressed with them.
What happened to purdont last year in the NCAA's with Edey........yeah , that's what I thought.......They lost to a # 16 seed........

they can lose , just like today to anybody......Someone's team gets hot and purdont goes cold and there you have it .....another embarrassing loss for Painter and purdont.....

BTW , I would NOT vote for Edey as POTY..........I would NOT have voted for him as POTY last year either......

JMHO.....

Not that it mattered, Edey with a two handed shove to the defender in front of him.
Edey is kind of an !!!. Late in the game against Minnesota, a Gopher got knocked down and had the foul called on him. Edey, instead of walking around the fallen Gopher or turning away, deliberately stepped over him. That is bush league, borderline intimidation. I will never, ever root for Purdont. They're gradually creeping into Iowa, Indiana territory.

On the subject of Edey, one thing I don’t get is the gushing over Klingan on UConn. Yes he’s good but to me he’s a very poor man’s Edey. Doesn’t have near the gravitational pull Edey does IMO.

And I still think UConn is very beatable despite their beat down of Marquette yesterday. UConn and Purdue 2 best teams but wouldn’t describe either as great.

Only because of his size, not his skill.

Edey is very skilled. Yes, he's also very tall, but there are a lot of tall basketball players who don't have the impact on the game that Edey does.

And I'm guessing you won't actually read that, because it doesn't align with your priors, but here's the closing paragraph:

"How good is Edey when we compare him not just to other giants, but to all college basketball players? The answer: Arguably the best we’ve seen in a long time. In my database going back to 2011, Zach Edey in 2023-24 has the highest overall Bayesian Performance Rating of any player. On a per-possession basis, he’s estimated to have a bigger impact on both ends of the floor than any player we’ve seen in college basketball in over a decade. Reasonable people can debate if he’s the best college player in that span, but the point is that he not only stacks up well against other tall centers, he bosses everyone."

They're kind of methy.

22-13-3 with 3 blks and as always affecting things defensively in ways the stats don't reveal.

No other player impacts the game as much.
How much of that impact can be attributed to his extreme stature?

consider Caitlin Clark, average size, skinny looking kid.

What is his vertical jump?

It's head to head, then better record percentage against next best team in the final standings and so on.

In the current standings it would be WI, but both PU and IL would be undefeated against them so then it would go to MSU and if PU doesn't lose to them, they would win.

Hypothetically, the first team we have a better percentage against is Nebraska.

It does get a little more complicated if there are ties in the standings so it's hard to say definitively what games are good for our tie breaker chances vs bad. It's much easier to just root for IL and whoever is playing PU

Thanks, appreciate it!

It's clear neither could defend the other. I'd assume Clark would win because she can hit threes at a higher rate by far.
A men's player with a Clark-like skillset would destroy Edey because he'd just pull him out to guard the 3 pointer and dribble right past him. But Clark is a girl with a slow and low release and a below the rim finisher. Could Edey cause her more problems than it would seem?

And Edey is extremely limited as a dribbler/driver. Does Clark get steals in WBB? Anytime you make Edey pick up his dribble he's screwed.

C'mon you two, you're in the NIL business now, let's make this happen!

A redux of the Hakeem vs. Shaq ppv that never happened.
