We’ve had over a 1000 screens against us this year worse than what they called on Mast just now. He had a right to pitch that fit.
Will agree and it was not a hard call to swallow the whistle. Stirtz flopped!!! Mast was a stature. And the very next play the Iowa player did not even slow down in his moving screen and simply ran over the defensive player....no call!!

Gotta be Cronin's swan song. Hard to even imagine the UCLA PTB will condone his act a minute longer than season's end. Who in their right mind wants to play for that fool. Lots of kids would take the money and go through the motions, but there are hundreds of coaches for which college kids would play their tails off.

To me it looks like he just wants his buyout and hit the road.

Props to Cronin for throwing his own dude out of the game. I respect the hell out of it.

He did what Izzo should have done! His player made a dangerous play … pretty nasty. Sent him packing ….. I guess that was why.

What is the context for this?
His guys were getting curb stomped by MSU. Hard foul on Cooper for a tech, and as much as I think Cronin needs to get on meds, this was probably the right call. He needs to move on and let UCLA figure out their program.

What is the context for this?
UCLA guy attempted chase down block and committed hard-ish foul that wasn't flagrant in my (or ref's) opinion, but others might have disagreed. UCLA was down big and under 5 mins left to go.

Cronin aspires to be besties w/Izzo so he "ejects" his own player.

I dont like Cronin so he gets no benefit of doubt from me, and this appears to be all for shore and to kiss-up to Izzo, but others may believe he was trying to be upstanding and send a message about the "right way to play" to the player/team.

It'd be nice for Iowa to get that one. Not sure Nebraska has another loss on their schedule.
We keep saying this but they keep losing. 2-4 their last 6 games after starting 20-0, only wins being Rutgers and Northwestern.

I think they lose at minimum once more.

To me their only great performance this year is our game, which, take away that Tomi bad call or crazy buzzer beater.... I'm not sure they win either.

They have a very good team, but not a great team.

What is the context for this?
The guy made a pretty dirty hard foul on a breakaway with a couple minutes to go while down 27. He squared up with the guy he fouled (I think it was Cooper) and they were pulled apart before any blows were thrown. Cronin told him to go to the locker room before the review even started.

What could be the blueprint to beating them? They have 1 loss (Wisconsin) and 4 other close games (TCU, Wake, PSU, Nebraska)

The similarities in all of those games are:

Michigan shot under 50% from the field
Michigan shot 32% or less from three point range
Michigan averaged 16 turnovers in those 5 games

You do not have to:

Outrebound them... Michigan held an avg +7.2 margin in those 5 games
Shoot exceptionally well... Wake 34%, TCU 37%, Penn St 35%, Wisconsin 50%, Nebraska 46%
Shoot the 3 well... Wake 10-34, TCU 7-24, Penn St 8-30, Wisconsin 15-33, Nebraska 11-32
Make more free throws... Michigan held an avg +6.4 margin in free throws made in those 5 games

Looking at it game by game, it looks like you basically have to turn them over and contest shots:

Wake shot 34% overall, missed 24 threes, got outrebounded, but nearly won because Michigan shot 4-25 from three and turned it over 17 times.
TCU shot 37% overall, missed 17 threes, got crushed on the glass 44-23, made 6 less FTs, but nearly won because Michigan had 22 turnovers.
Penn St shot 35% overall, missed 22 threes, but outrebounded Michigan by 6, had 2 less turnovers, Michigan shot poorly again (8-27 from 3).
Wisconsin did shoot well 50% overall and made 15-33 threes, did not win turnover margin... this is the one that's a little different than the others.
Nebraska was down 2 rotation players, missed 21 threes, Michigan won FT margin +19 and rebound margin +12 but had 19 turnovers.
They love to turn the ball over. The key is offensive efficiency and controlling the pace when they do.And we're really really historically good at that. With AS back, I think we will be just fine.

A ton of upheaval in the top 25, today. Voters have their work cut out for them this week.

But for crying out loud, can they stop shoehorning in a 4th SEC at 25th team just because?
You must be even more upset with KenPom and Torvik. They have the nerve to put 5 in the top 20 ;)

I’d MAYBE add at Michigan, too. They were short handed, had some very questionable calls go against them and were right in it until the end.

However, it can’t be denied that if they didn’t hit that buzzer beater three vs. us in Champaign and we end up beating them in OT, they never get half the momentum they eventually got, even at 19-1.
