Honestly, I didn't think the foul was all that bad. Was it hard? Yes. Did he push him in the back, undercut him, etc? I didn't see it. Embarrassing a player like that for a hard play on the ball, not very smart. If he thought it was truly dirty, you sit him on the bench for the duration of the rest of the game, then talk to him after, in private.
Re: Hoiberg... I believe Woody Hayes was immediately fired. Yes these are not precisely the same incidents, largely because there is basically no expectation of professional decorum anymore -- which is also why, sadly, Hoiberg will receive a slap on the wrist or no punishment.

Hoiberg is not the villian here.
I wouldn't say that there's a villain, but Fred gets paid a lot of money to deal with cameras, fans, etc. He's coached at all levels and he knows that he needs to keep his cool.
He's a good guy, a good coach, he's got a good team....can't let a moment of frustration take away from any of that. He knows better.

I was not making a legal argument. More of a FAFO argument.
You want a legal argument? "I saw somebody rushing at me with a metal object in his hand and I instinctively defended myself."
In the end the kid won anyway...his goal was to get a 'gotcha' moment from the losing coach and now he's got one. Still deserves a smack in the mouth.
You might want to avoid any 1st Amendment auditors then...

Absolutely horrible news. One of my favorite players to watch in college basketball over the past couple of seasons and a big reason why I jumped on the Red Raider bandwagon last season.
Actually he committed assault so that does indeed make him a villain (sic) here.
Assault? Because he knocked a phone out of a kids hand that was sticking it in his face? Oh, guessing since they stormed the court, he wasn't supposed to be on the floor in the first place?
