Now that's a reach.Calling it a one possession game is such a disingenuous take that I shouldn't even respond.
I do not think the final 5 minutes play out the same way if Purdue doesn't have a 15 point lead at the time. But like you said, I'm not here to tell anyone else what to think.
And it was a one possession game, but the team leading had the ball. If they make 1 of 2 free throws, it becomes a two possession game. At no point during the entire game was Purdue in danger of losing the game.

Not a single game post today 2 ranked teams played...they both lost. Whoever was wanting Dayton to lose got their wish. Watch out for TCU tomorrow. So I skipped a bunch of pages........Are there any game posts here, or is it just a bunch of posts that belong in other threads?
You wouldn't be saying its a lucky and random outcome if Illinois went far in March. So we win two games in a single elimination tournament where luck and random matchups play an enormous role in the outcome or we go back to the drawing board on the winningest team in the B10? Pretty sure this attitude is what @LvilleILL is talking about.
Wow, I've been here in one form or another for about 19 of those......... invested a LOT of time on IL.com since opening the site that very 1st time, and I don't regret a single minute of it!! I remember when Dan changed the formatting of the chat to what it is now. Brilliant move!!! I recall the tapatalk days and whatnot.... I certainly remember the old guard of posters, OF, GHD, Yates, Dayton, and many more! There have been some fantastic folks on here over the years, Dr's, Lawyers, Judges, Coaches, Players, Parents....... Great memories!!Congratulations on almost 20 years!
Yes indeed. Been here since 2007. 17 years. That's a long time. I remember all those folks you mentioned, too. No one here knows thatBefore this, it was Brumbry’s Illiniboard. That was a crazy a$$ forum.
Loyalty definitely a step up.
I don’t think teams are any less consistent than they were in the past. Looking at the top 10 in KenPom in 2003, here were their final records:On any given night. That's really this season in a nutshell. We're anywhere from a top 30 team to a top 5 team. There's about 20 other teams like that.
I feel like the game today has lost a lot of the mental toughness that a lot of the great teams had. The ability to bring it at a high level almost every night. I had a sense that we had a bit of it prior to the suspension. However, the way Missouri has imploded makes me wonder if some of that was a false read.
Regardless, we're a threat to go deep or exit early. Just about anyone is.

Yep.And yet it was a one-possession game at the very end. Definition of 'playing them down to the wire'.

The game was in doubt when we were down three with 14 seconds left. If PU turns it over, or misses free shots, anything can happen ...We never had the ball with a chance to even tie the game. The game was never in doubt.
There is no actual definition of "playing them down to the wire" but never even having a chance to tie the game sure ain't it for me.
I'm sure that you loved all the Lawyers that came out of the woodwork for the TSJ situation I noticed a couple people mentioned Chalmers. Why does he get mentioned like he's in memoriam? If it's the same one that I'm thinking of, he still posts here. Oh yeah, the good ol' days of the internet. Nothing like hearing that dial up tone. There is one major benefit to analog signals though...simply pick up the phone. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times I "trolled" my siblings when they went over their timeBefore this, it was Brumbry’s Illiniboard. That was a crazy a$$ forum.
