Enough cannot be said of how disastrous Ohio State has been the past two years. Talented on paper, but Holtmann is driving them into the ground. Bye by Chrissy
Ross Bjork gets to make his first major hire before his family gets to move to Columbus .

He can transfer his short list from the cocktail napkin in his wallet and write it on a real sheet of paper and leave it on the top of his desk now .

Wouldn't have guessed that losing Jamison Battle to OSU would lead to these midseason results for MN and OSU.

Also: ironic that Holtmann is on the verge of getting canned in Columbus while Matta is coaching up Butler.
Two very good points , my friend.......it is strange that the loss of Jameson has affected goofers in a good way that has also affected osu in a bad way ......goes against all common sense in that Jameson is a good player with a great 3 pt shot ability...........

it's that old Joquin A. phrase that sums it up in one word......................youneverknow.............it really really does............

Minnesota is now in 4th place, more than halfway through conference play. Just like we all predicted.

I hear you and I'm definitely not arguing your point.

But it was a good post to reply to and complain about these megaconferences and the unbalanced schedules. Minnesota hasn't played us or Purdue yet and they only play both of us once.

Usually the top few teams are relatively equal in talent. Regular season conference championships are going to have as much to do with who you play and where you play them as they will be about the talent on the team.

If I’m Chris Holtmann, I’m probably asking my agent to see what Mountain West or American Conference jobs may be available.
Nah, Have you seen the Mountain West this year? Far too talented for him. Holtmann deserves to be knocked down to the Horizon or Summit league based on his record.

To be fair, I didn’t say Holtmann would be looking at good teams in those conferences. He’s just not going to get a job in the Big East, Big Ten, ACC, or Big 12. I’d probably throw the SEC in there as well, but there might be a crappy team firing their coach who would see his Butler record and his Big Ten experience (however bad it may be) and take a flier. I wouldn’t, but ADs are a strange group sometimes.

pretty good chance that he ends up coaching at a school that doesn’t play football

Here's a question.

Say you're like Temple or Dayton or something. Would you rather hire Chris Holtmann or John Groce?

I know this will sound like a cop out, but I’d want to go through the interview/reference process. Holtmann seemed to be on the path to being a long-term power conference coach before crashing in Columbus. Groce obviously had his issues at Illinois but has rebounded very nicely at Akron. Both have highlights and question marks. Just based on external records and what we’ve seen, I see them as more or less equal at the moment.

The comment was they're really not that impressive. Beating 7 top 30 teams is impressive. We don't have to crap on teams every time they lose a game. They played a top 5 team on Saturday and then had one day off before traveling to play an in-state rival. Good teams lose games too.
I know. I couldn't leave the 2 games comment hanging with out some context.

I'm just glad we get Minnesota at home in our lone matchup.

There are entire sections in the Crisler center that are dead empty right now…woof
Looks quite a bit like Carver-Hawkeye Friday night. There were sections where my son and I could count the number of fans on our hands and have fingers left over.

I get basketball is an afterthought in Ann Arbor, but I cannot think anyone in the UM athletic administration can look at this and say, "Yeah, Juwan coming back another year is the way forward for this program." Hell, Robbie Hummel is probably heard through most of the arena right now.
