They are both overrated. Houston hasn't beat anyone.

Miami(OH) down to 89 in kenpom after a 2 point squeaker. Not gonna lie, after the Bruce Pearl and Miami AD back and forth, I would love to see them lose in the conference tourney and it come down to them and Auburn for the final at large. Cue the drama. We all know Pearl deserves the smoke, even though he has a point on this one.

We are solidly on the 2 line with Houston, MSU and Florida/UConn. Nebraska losing so far to UCLA will keep them at the 3 with Purdue and who knows as TecH, BYU and KU all lost tonight. Virginia could move onto the 3 line since teams ahead of them have lost. Beat Maryland this weekend and win the QF game next Friday and a 2 seed is ours.

Since I know we'll have plenty of people asking...

Illini clinch the triple bye in the BTT with either a win on Sunday at Maryland OR Wisky losing one of their last two remaining conference games.

From my POV, some great results for us tonight so far! Go UCLA!
Do we need Iowa to beat Nebraska to secure a better than 4 seed? Obviously MSU losing helps as well. Didn't know if we had the tie breaker on them. Apologies if said tie breaker has previously been discussed somewhere

Looks like most of the brackets on Bracket Matrix that had Illinois as a 3-seed also had Nebraska as a 2-seed, so tonight's results should make the Illini a really solid 2-seed when updates are done tomorrow.
Nebraska a 2 seed? I needed a good laugh. Since starting 20-0 they are 5-5.

Who has the Big Ten tourney seeding tiebreaker if our Illini and Nebraska both end at 15 & 5?

Who has the Big Ten tourney seeding tiebreaker if our Illini and Nebraska both end at 15 & 5?
Nebraska almost certainly because of record against Wisconsin the sixth seed.

Problem is Michigan state probably loses to Michigan. That’s a three way tie for second and we own a 1-2 RR record against Nebraska and msu.

I think the only way we get a 3 seed is Nebraska losing to Iowa and us beating Maryland.

I believe Nebraska because this scenario assumes MSU doesn’t lose at home to Rutgers and is thus also 15-5, making it a 3-way tie. And Nebraska beat MSU, while we didn’t, so they jump us and we are the #4 seed.

It would be REALLY great if Iowa upset Nebraska and we could get the #3 seed! Such a better path…

#141
We beat Purdue and they did not. Doesn’t that move us ahead of them?
I actually don’t think there’s a way we jump Nebraska if we end with the same record. MSU record against is actually the first tie breaker regardless of msu winning or losing. They’ve got that.

Yeah, assuming we are stuck in the #4 spot (which I hate, lol...), I personally think our dream bracket of somewhat realistic scenarios would be...

(1) #12 Minnesota over #13 USC on Wednesday
(2) #5 Wisconsin over #12 Minnesota on Thursday in an emotionally draining rivalry game that leaves the winner tired
(3) We beat a tired #5 Wisconsin on Friday by a surprisingly large amount due to their tired legs and the revenge factor, and we regain some of our confidence. This also gets us another Quad 1 win (and another Quad 1A win if Wisconsin jumps from #32 to the top 25).
(4) #8 Ohio State gives #1 Michigan a damn good fight for about 35 minutes, but the Wolverines solidly put away a surging-but-tired #8 Ohio State team late and gets a little too cocky but also maybe a bit more tired than they were expecting.
(5) A fired up Illini squad comes out firing on all cylinders in front of what is hopefully a sea of orange and gets revenge on Michigan, solidifying us as a clear #2 seed in the Big Dance.
Beautiful DREAMER! Just click your heels 3 times and you are home Dorothy

The Illini peaked way too soon! You never know which team will show up. Last nights game against a poor Oregon team and we shot 39% on 711 shots?? Where was Tomi and Boswell. In sudden death games you can't have a night off. I think they get bounced in the Big by Purdue and in the 2nd game of the NCAA

?

Will be a supreme challenge as a 4. Not impossible, just a very tough side of the bracket.

opponent there should be purdue or wisconsin (basically the winner of their game this coming saturday)... also assumes they beat the winner of 12/13 in b1g tourney... if we face usc or minny, hard to call that a supreme challenge... i question if wisconsin would really be that even though they beat us in champaign (we did not have kylan nor andrej in that one)... if its purdue though then that does get closer to supreme challenge territory imo

#148
any chance if let’s say Purdue beats both Wisconsin then us in the big ten tournament, msu loses to Michigan and whoever plays them first round BTT, that we’d still sneak in as a 2 seed? Feels slim but that’s almost worst case scenario for us.

Yes. I'm fully expecting Purdue to beat Wiscy at Mackey Saturday. Would be completely shocked otherwise. Purdue will then be out for revenge against us in the tournament after most likely handling USC or Minny. Stranger things have happened, but not likely.

This is 100% accurate.

Best case scenario for us is to win on Sunday (avoid the dreaded Quad 3 road loss) and have Wisky beating both Maryland and @Purdue, which would assure us at least the 4 seed. Wisconsin is currently ranked #32 NET. If they win both of those games, there is a pretty good chance for that loss a couple weeks ago to sneak in as a Quad 1 loss as compared to the current Quad 2 loss. They only need to gain two spots.
