Anyone wanna share their earliest tourney memory?

Mine was 97 when we last to Chattannooga. I could not understand how we lost to a team i had never heard of

Then of course 2 years later we lost to Florida in 2nd rd who somehow was a 5 seed?
Terry Mills. That is all.

"Don't think of a pink elephant."
I don't mean to be an a$$, but when we say "The committee doesn't take X, Y, or Z into account..." we all know that's not how the mind works. We are all uncontrollably influenced/biased in some crazy ways.

"Virginia & Purdue"
Yes, it's true that some high-numbered seeds may be more "dangerous" than others, but the tournament is all about favorable/unfavorable matchups and we live in an age of 16s beating 1s.

With those thoughts in mind, I am able to wipe the slate clean between the conference tournaments and the big dance, and realize that in order to win a string of games in a pressure cooker environment a whole lot of things are either gonna go right for us or they're not.

[I like our height and ability to score to carry us through the inevitable nail-biter games we will endure.]

My expectation of the top seeds:

East: Duke, IL*, ISU
Mid: MI, Hou, AL
West: AZ, MSU, GZ
South: FL, UConn, NEB, PU

Comments:

* The 3rd highest Big10 team likely ends up in the east with Duke whether they are a 2 seed or a 3 seed.

** I think PU is a borderline 3/4 seed and gets bumped down to maximize the distance to another Big10 team.

- IL/ISU may swap seeds, if IL loses to WI and ISU does well in their tourney.
- I don't think Gonzaga deserves a 3, I think they get it.

Smith was saying Illinois was anywhere from a 3 to a 5 seed in the B1G tourney, which was true. He said "tournament" but was clearly talking about next week's conference tournament.
Huh? He said "I've got them as..."

Sounded like a judgement of opinion, which wouldn't make sense in the context of a conference seeding situation at this point.

North Dakota State wins the Summit, likely a 14 seed in the tourney.

High Point wins the Big South, and likely are a dangerous 13 seed in the tourney.
I worked in High Point with Stephen A. Smith before he was famous in 1992. Will be rooting for them as long as they don’t play us.
