Danks!!!!!

Pitch well enough to get some trade value in return :D

I watched every pitch of that game and did not think that Danks pitched well. The Astros ran themselves out of runs and big innings. In watching that series, it is really difficult to understand how the Astros are above 0.500. I know it's only three games, so the sample size is meaningless, but they did not look like a good baseball team to me.

And Eaton, my goodness. He is dreadful in the OF. If he was an offensive juggernaut, you could deal with him, but he is barely adequate at the plate IMO.

On the plus side, LaRoche is playing more like I expected him to recently. He's taking walks and starting to hit the ball with some authority.

Agreed, IO. Houston's baserunning was almost laughable...but definitely welcome. Their fielding, at times, almost as laughable. The way we've been playing lately, I was just hoping for 1 W (with the possibility of getting swept) in Houston, to get out of there with 2 W's is VERY nice...

Eaton. It's like a different guy showed up this year, both in the field and at the plate. And Abreu? Last season, his biggest weakness was swinging at pitches way out of the zone. "They" said if he works on that in the off season, the sky's the limit. Well, I don't quite know what they did in the off season, but it sure as hell looks like they didn't work on that...

Abreu has been fine. He hasn't been an MVP candidate, but his OPS+ is 130 which is reasonable. In fact, he's probably the same player that he was the 2nd half of last year, without the unsustainable BABIP of 0.419 .

In some ways I agree Abreu's doing "fine", but many, many ABs, he's swinging at stuff that you and I know are going to be in the dirt. I know, I swung at a share of them myself, and as a pitcher, hoped a bunch of guys would swing at MY stuff that I knew was going to be in the dirt...;)

Anybody know what might go down in next week's draft? We have a nice pick at #8.

I haven't paid enough attention to who is in the draft to form an opinion, but would love to get a position player of some consequence. When was the last position player drafted that came up and did something? Magglio?

Now you guys...:D

And you guys have been giving me chit about Gordon...

Beckham .263 BA, OBP .321, SLG .394
Gillaspie .246 BA. OBP .280, SLG .373

And Gordon handles the hot corner better, IMO...:thumb:
I love the handsome faced Gordon Beckham. I like his new role with the team. Seems to have taken pressure off and is a good role player. Just not the super star we thought he was going to be after his rookie year.

Joe Crede, 1996?
Aaron Rowand, 1998?

Not great players, but very important players on our only Champion.
Good find. Back to 96 or 98 is still way to long. Kenny went on the draft athletic players with crazy high upside streak and none of them seemed to pan out. Id be happy to find a Crede or Rowand type player in this draft.

Keith Law just said we're hoping for Tate at 8. I have to imagine that's only because Fulmer will most likely be off the board.

I think it's the opposite. We're hoping Tate will slip, but I think he is thought to be the better prospect and likely to go before the Sox pick.
