Groce sasys Illinois gave up 36 pts in first 33 minutes, 33 pts in last 7minutes.

Edit: either I heard wrong or Groce was wrong... gave up 46 pts in first 33

The bigger story was great execution by Wisconsin. During their massive second half run, there wasn't a bad offensive possession in the bunch.

If Alvarez is too big and important to keep Gard....I'm just saying.

33 points in 7 minutes...that's a scoring pace per minute above the NBA all star game (196 points) . Ridiculous....good D in the first half though.

JG should have drawn a T to send the refs a message and fire up his team. Even LouDo did this every now and then, and it almost always worked to UI's favor. That reffing was atrocious.

Our players are going to remember the injuries, negative publicity, and screwjobs from officials this season for a long time. If we stay healthy, we're going to have a very good team next year. These guys are going to come out with a chip on their shoulders fighting to shut up all the critics and save Groce's job. I have a feeling we're all going to be in for a very exciting ride next year.

Any way you can cast a negative light to move JG out, right?

No, absolutely not. I actually love Groce and want to see him succeed. He had a great game plan that game, and the team executed it awesomely. But I firmly believe Big 10 basketball is too influenced by the refs. And in that particular game we were definitely the beneficiaries of their whistles. Refs do effect the outcomes of games. They do have the ability to set momentum.

What lost the game was allowing a 22-2 run when Illinois was up 46-33. I know the foul differential and officiating was obviously one-sided, but you can't give up a -20 run by the other team at any point and expect to win a game.

Side note: Wisconsin has won 10 straight games against Illinois. I wonder what Groce's record is against each B1G team...

Again, not an actual response as to what was viewed as, "poor execution."

If I had the way (I didn't DVR this game) so I can't go back and watch the last 10 minutes, but I'd be curious how many whistles were blown against us down the stretch that really didn't allow for the offense to flow at all.

The drought started before the barrage of bad calls. Started settling for bad, early shots. Never tried to get the ball inside and the work it back out. On the defensive end, we got caught on bad switches and let them start working inside out. We shut that down in the first half pretty well. We let them get the ball into the post at will during their run. Then there was just way too much one-on-one, which led to bad turnovers. It's basically the same thing on the offensive end that's led to every scoring drought this season.

I remain a JG fan and believe he is the right man for the job (unless the grand slam Joe Maddon hire is out there, which he is not).

Totally unbiased viewpoint was given tonight from Crispin, this is a Top 25 team next year when healthy.

I would hate to see Whitman fire him this year without an incredible hire already in place, only to be able to come in and win next year with JG players but have to start the recruiting process over, not to mention with a loaded '17 class that everyone seems to think we sit very well with.

It's because of Bo Bryan. Bo treated JG like a grad assistant in JG's first trip to Madison in 2013.

Bo Ryan was one of the most abrasive, insufferable jerks in Big Ten history and everyone knew it. I'm amazed that he's now remembered by some as an avuncular teacher of young men. He was a first-class azz-clown.
