I mean, they're not wrong. All of Brad's coaching flaws get exposed by March unless we're playing Duquesne
He had an elite 8 run on the back of a team that was physical and athletic(they did beat Iowa State) and then decided positional size was the main reason so he promptly built two teams full of guys that can't slide their feet on the perimeter.

Honestly, this team got like no chance in the tournament. We pretty much have to out shoot everyone at all times. We never put teams away. If we fall behind against one of the better teams in the country, we might make a run to comeback but we won't play good enough defense to complete the comeback. This team is so talented but unbelievably frustrating.

ole pru's worthless thoughts regarding life as an Illini fan in March Madness................

It's very concerning to watch us play stellar team basketball with big runs to get a double digit lead ,then give it right back going away from what got us the big lead........ucla , wisky twice and 3-4 other games with us losing a game we had command of.........

the terrible foul called on Dre should concern ALL college BB fans.......ZERO CONTACT shown numerous times on replay........there are so many refs who are NOT qualified to do the job adequately to provide a fair contest for all concerned......

showboating used to be looked down on in the past .......now adulation and praise flows freely for cocky m'f**s like boyd and blackwell..........I will NEVER root for scUM but a finely tuned elbow to boyd's grill would be so special especially with the owner of that elbow raising his arms like boyd did all game long..................

btw, I think Lendeborg is the weakest choice as B$G POTY in my recent memory....no doubt a good player but he wouldn't have been my choice for that award..............JMHO...................

Another game with inept refs having a terrible performance..............it really really was...............

P.S. Fire EVERY Big 10 official.
I’m not a blame the refs guy, bc 1. Shouldn’t allow it to be close to be an effect. 2. Bc this has been an issue in this league for so long.

With that said, your comment is an understatement and I support this message!

He only played 18 out of 45 minutes. Most of that was off of Boyd and Blackwell because of the fouls.

I still have no idea what Bam's second foul was for. He was under the play and touched no one.

And I really don't wanna hear about "well he put himself in that spot with a dumb tech". For a lack of better words, don't catch me with that nonsense. We got a dude kicking people in the groin and tripping every other possession in this conference, and not only will he not get a tech, he wont even get a foul. But God forbid someone jaw a bit.

I think that is our main problem. We’ve got two 7 footers and they both would rather shoot threes. Sometimes you just need to get underneath and rebpund! Let the guards shoot. If you aren’t willing to rebound get someone who will. I love this team and they are fun to watch no doubt but it’s crunch time now!
I wouldn't even mind that tradeoff if they could actually MAKE those 3s a semi-reasonable clip. But instead they're sacrificing offensive rebounds for what lately seem to be almost automatic misses.

Keaton Wagler drives the lane all game and gets 3 fts

Blackwell and Boyd combine for 24

We still should’ve found a way to win but get all the way the f out
mood GIF

That dichotomy was particularly made stunning by the worst phantom call I've ever seen.

I realize he’s not why we lost the game and we have bigger problems and he’s don’t a lot of good things this year and he seems like a fine young man but just once I wish Ben would show up in one of these big games.

Only one shot attempt in 23 minutes. Going back to last years NCAAT I think that’s 2 attempts in 3 games. Just shows me he’s afraid to be out there a bit.
Stop it. This had nothing to do with Ben. If you want somebody to go after, go after Tom, who was 1000 times worse than Ben today & pretty much every other game this year. I don't know what happened to him, but there is no way in HADES he should be back next year. He looks like he doesn't even want to play.

As are most BU teams. Great recruiter, subpar at best coach.

Let’s face it. BU at this point in his career will keep Illinois competitive during the regular season just based off talent alone.
He’s proven time and time again he is a mediocre in-game coach.
Doesn’t know how to utilize his timeouts whether it’s to stop momentum or draw up a play.
1 second weekend in 9 years is unacceptable at Illinois. His seat needs to warm up.
If Michigan can find Dusty May I trust Josh to do the same.

Whose fault was it that he only played 18 minutes? He is a senior… dumb fouls

We shouldve won but missed FTs and such its tough.

That said. That was one of the most poorly officiated games i have seen with multiple blown calls or anticipated whistles that killed the Illini after hustling to get stops, loose balls and time outs. It was just a very poorly called game.
Up 15 twice! Get a killer instinct…hell coach it! BU is a tourney choker but now 15-20pt lead choker

We are 1-5 against the top 5 in the BIG. We haven't played well in the last month or so. I think we are who we are at this point, and that's a team that doesn't play well enough consistently enough to win more than 2 games in a row in the NCAAT.

words of wisdom, that i forget or never learn. a team is who they are at this point in the season. we may get to the s16 thanks to being a 3-seed (?) and favorable opponent, but i could very easily see a game going like that kentucky game last year: watching a slow motion car wreck.

or worse, watching a car get out ahead of another car in a race, then throw it in reverse, crash, and lose.

What a terrible game plan. Let both the opponents guards score 30+ points and don't use your inside height to score in the paint. Oh and keep throwing up 3 point bricks.

How do you as coach, with the talent on this team, let Wisconsin own you???? Boyd should have been given multiple T's for his fake acting to get the BIG refs to call a foul----and of course, they stupidly called a foul.

Absolute waste of talent from this team. Boyd made Boswell a complete non-factor with his baiting. Wisconsin made plays and got to the line, ILL did not. They were up 15 and once again took their foot off the gas, and played not to lose, which they again did.

Post season success should be a given, but not with this team.

never a given. but point taken

Maybe Brad might be better off at Kansas state.see if self would come back for a couple of years.imagine self with OA.a guy that is a legendary recruiter and post coach with self high low we'd immediately be going for championships with that combo serious. Instead a guy that over almost a 10 year span still hasn't been able to still not be able to draw up a outbound play seriously. I ran out of bounds plays in elementary school that were more of a threat then brads lets just throw it over half court and chuck up a 3 from a less then 3 point threat.#bring self back for a couple of years

Jmo but Keaton would get a lot more foul calls if he went up hard when he got to the basket instead of that underhand scoop stuff he does every time
