Maybe this was said already, but did anyone catch when the announcer said, "Brad told me they really don't have an offense. We just find the mismatches and exploit them." This may not be word for word, but it was something along those lines. However, the offense we love to run is dribble hand offs 35' from the basket....

Don't disagree with any of that outside of Flagg as generational talent. Have thought a good comp for him is Andrei Kirilenko. Amazing athlete and defensive player but doesn't have the full package on offense to be a featured player in the league.

As for Rutgers, and like you said yourself, you've got to surround them with something. Rutgers is Ace, Harper and a bunch of scrubs.

Cooper Flagg was lighting up NBA players before he even got to Duke

If that's the case I'm ready for a coaching change. Appreciate what Brad's done, but he's clearly done what he can do and it's time for an upgrade, especially with what we are paying him.

Sorry Indy I like you and DB but just not true at all. The entire team has been hurt or ill the last month and a half. Most of the guys are really close and love it here, there will be several returners. Guys will also leave. I have never in my life seen what has happened to this team illness wise happen to any sports team before. If some of you guys knew the behind the scenes it's just insane
I'm sympathetic to this, especially as someone who was hospitalized with Norovirus a few weeks back, but if this is really the case then why in he✔️✔️ are sick players routinely sitting on the bench, in layup lines, travelling, etc.? It makes no sense. If they are/were not contagious, then why is everyone sick? And yes, there is a lot of it going around, but I sure don't see this level of illness generally around campus/ in class.

He hasn't been able to adjust because no one is teaching him how, it's like here you go figure it out yourself. I cannot imagine his handlers or agent are real pleased with KJs illini experience

This happened at the same time as all 5 illini are standing around outside the 3 point line, all 5 just playing catch until late in shot clock. Coaching? Then the camera shows Brad shoulder to shoulder with a smiling Tyler. It's really run it's course with me, I have ZERO expectations the rest of the way. Maybe I will be surprised

I just wanna ask the insiders a very silly question because the season is just not fun right now. I admittedly do not know that much about basketball other than enjoying watching it. Brad is a really good coach, and I don’t think you move on from him unless a surefire, can’t miss upgrade is available.

THAT BEING SAID. Let’s just have a fun hypothetical where Shauna Green’s team goes and beats the brakes off of #3 UCLA tomorrow. Let’s say they make a deep run to the elite eight or better in the women’s tournament. Let’s say Josh Whitman knows that he has a big 10 commissioners job waiting in the wings and he gets a little frisky. Let’s say he makes an offer for Shauna Green to become the first Female head coach for a men’s basketball team…

Question one: does she take it?

Question two: what would the fall out from that be?

Question three: is that the kind of move that gets an A.D. fired?

Question four: would she succeed?

Man when I saw that Wisconsin -3.5 I almost thru a bag oon Wiscy but never like to bet against the beloved.
Brad will be alright. He hasn’t had a good year but he is smart and a hard worker. He will make some changes on the coaching staff. Also I sure like oolder teams. We need to kill it in the portal this offseason. KJ needs another year but lottery money is hard to pass up. DGL is good as gone.

Not an insider, but I don't see that occurring anytime soon. The only female head coach that I'd even consider for a men's job right now is Dawn Staley. Think about that - only the head and shoulders best female coach in the game would even be on my interview list.

Illinois may not have it's absolute cherry-pick of the top coaches who would want to make a move, but I feel confident that Josh Whitman would not go down very far on his list to get a successor high on his wish list.

Well the only reason Morez, Ty and Tre are here was because of TA ... And they all didn't come here to sit the bench and get DNP - Coaches Decision ... And not start ... And redshirt ...

Booth is not a HM player ... I don't even need to discuss that one ... Jakstys ... Also not a HM player ...

KJ and Will are going to the NBA ...

Ben has another year if he wants it but it won't be here ...

DGL is playing better than Kylan and can barely touch the court ?? I'd transfer too ... Kid got recruited over and stuck it out and worked his butt off and has proven he has the fire when other guys don't and doesn't get rewarded for it ...

Everyone thought DGL was going to be the disloyal kid because he hopped around HS or whatever ... Kid is the most loyal dude on the team ... And doesn't get nearly enough love for it ... Kid just brings it ... Every time he's on the court ...

Just an observation from last night. Tre went to the line in the second and he is very visibly sucking wind trying to get his breath. Nobody on Wisconsin seems tired at all.

This was a team early on that relied on high energy and effort to win games. What happens to that energy and effort when you've been sick, missed practices and, are no longer better conditioned than the guys you are playing against?

That doesn't necessarily explain everything but I think it goes a long way toward why they've struggled so much recently, especially on the defensive end. Offensively they need to change philosophies and it seems like Brad knows that but again limited practice time to be able to accomplish that so you get a disjointed mess instead.
I noticed Tre as well. All I know is if the illness running through the locker room is what I had a couple weeks ago, it zaps you. After 5 days thought I was feeling better, went to the gym, lasted 20 minutes. The next day I was back in bed for two more days. I've been over it for about 5 days and still have low energy.

KJ is getting doubled every time he's in position for a shot or a drive, but he hasn't been able to pass it to an open team mate lately. I think the staff should be able to coach him how to handle that.
This is a problem. Michigan State jumped on him hard with the primary defender and the screen defender every single time KJ ran a pick and roll and there was no answer for it. Last night Wisconsin did the same thing and guess what happened....the exact same thing because we had no adjustment for it.

It was truly the most outrageous line all year

I laughed hard (cried inside) when the announcer said this because yep....checks out.

"if he blocks a 100, he blocks a 100" as clingan went on to block 100 shots

Several players will be replaced but they have guys they can actually build around this time, which is a big difference from last offseason
Yep, and that was essentially a chose by Underwood... He absolutely could've changed the way he did things in order to keep Amani, Sincere, Dain, etc.. Underwood chose Hamer over Frazier..

We could also have built around Ty...

3 of those guys are dogs and tough as nails. But Underwood decided to build around "skill". Problem is, he misevaluated the skill and we are also soft.

I think Brad needs to commit to building a team that will be here 2-3 years together, rather than going after every portal toy and 1 and done he can find. Building 1 year teams simply isn’t sustainable
Underwood brought in 4 freshman. I think he did recruit. It’s just that two of them are so good, that they will be off to the NBA next year.

I love how staff can watch that type of ball screen coverage completely disrupt our offense and simultaneously say “nah, not for us. Analytics don’t support it.”
