It's far from a done deal. Imo it will come down to Boswell vs DGL and who they want back more-because they are going to go get a couple of guards

Seems from the minutes distribution this year that they much prefer KB. Also the whole 'we went to AZ and brought our Champaign son home' story, can't let that be a one-and-done, bad look. It's far from a done deal. Basketball players don't stop learning and developing once they get drafted, in fact a common belief in the NBA is that they are better off learning in the NBA or G-League than in college.
I sure as hell would not be staying if I were him and I love the kids game, but think he is probably smart enough to find a better situation.Seems from the minutes distribution this year that they much prefer KB. Would DGL stay with two new guards brought in anyway? Seems he's already been through that, done his time, etc.
Do you watch any NBA? The NBA has excellent defenders, and players who can't defend don't have a long shelf life (Enes Kanter is an example I go to a lot - excellent scorer but out of the league by 30 because he can't defend). It's just that it is not easy at all to defend against NBA-level scorers.Well they certainly do not need to worry about learning how to defend in the NBA so that doe leave alot more time to work on how to dribble and not loose the ball 6 times in one half... lol
I only watch if I am scanning channels and I see the bulls or golden state on to watch... well you know. i don't care to watch it. I am a college BB guy onlyDo you watch any NBA? I think there is a lot to this. You put KJ on a team like Wisky that runs stuff for all five guys, I think we'd see a much different player.Sturdy from Illini Guys said on their podcast last night that he talked to an NBA scout who said flat out that KJ would excel in the league and that his current struggles are bc he is simply not being used correctly.
Can’t imagine he wants another year of this type of turmoil if he’s going to be a mid first rounder
Sadly you can no longer be assured that these players will stay with you for 3-4 years like Trent, DMFW and Coleman... I personally think NIL needs to be done away with.. Yes kids should be paid to play for their school above and beyond the education and room. I would only allow 1 transfer in your 4 years... this new school every year is stupid.. I could go on.Maybe just me but I don’t understand why we need to repeat the whole “most talented team in the B1G” for the 3rd time in 3 years. It’s looking like it won’t work 2/3 times, why can’t we just get guys content with their roles who are solid players (guys like Jake Davis, Justin Harmon) so we aren’t talking about returning only 4 guys with 6 games left in the season due to frustration with their roles.
Tonje was injured while at Missouri. He was a good player at Colorado State. No idea what happened at Mizzou last year as he only played 8 games and very few minutes. Must have been injured bc I’m sure Mizzou wishes they still had him.
Blackwell/Tonje is the best scoring backcourt WI has had in forever, and all their stretch big men can shoot as well. Very well rounded offense that works the ball around.
I’m not sure if Tonje is big enough to play 2 guard in the NBA, and he’s def not a PG, but as a do it all college scorer he’s great. Pure stroke, scores at all levels. 3s, post ups, mid range shots. Bounces off defender and step back. You need a tall athlete to defend him and IL didn’t have anyone that ticked those boxes
If they didn't, we would see more players who have 3+ years being drafted earlier than they do. There was a big shift in the draft on this several years ago. You would hear a 3+ yr player was less desirable. That might change a little with the NIL, but doubtful. That's quite literally exactly how the NBA treats it.
This is one of the things that bothers me the most, no adjustments made!!This is a problem. Michigan State jumped on him hard with the primary defender and the screen defender every single time KJ ran a pick and roll and there was no answer for it. Last night Wisconsin did the same thing and guess what happened....the exact same thing because we had no adjustment for it.
It's possible, and as Indy stated, it will be the narrative either way. His TOs don't look to me to be because he's utilized incorrectly. I will say he performs better when Tomi is healthy and playing more minutes with the high pick. He struggles without him on the floor.I think there is a lot to this. You put KJ on a team like Wisky that runs stuff for all five guys, I think we'd see a much different player.
Driving into the lane while a defense collapses and none of your teammates move isn't a recipe for success. Unless you are TSJ and can just overpower three guys at once.

That’s what happens when you give someone control of the offense with no coaching experience.Let me describe our offense. A weak weave out top, then 2 players stand on the left, 2 on the right, and whoever has the ball out top tries to take his man one-on-one. When the shot goes up.... Crash the boards.
If it makes it this far before KJ turns it over.
It's maddening.
Weird, I had the urge to do the sameHeard Strudy mention Davis threw up at halftime. Which would make a lot more sense in how everything played out.
Eh, I don't think he's coming back, but that's not why. Klutch Sports also signed Nolan Hickman and Jaylin Stewart before the 2023-2024 season, and guess who is still in college this year. Koby Brea signed with them before last year's draft, and then withdrew from the draft.riley is signed to klutch sports. he aint coming back
