So stoked! This could be the start of a new era in Champaign.

Wow. What a match. Welcome to the family, Kendrick!
I'm sure we will have a ceremony to officially bestow the 'KN' moniker here very soon.

John Groce lands Kendrick Nunn commitment "I believe Demetrius (Jackson), the point guard from (Indiana), is most likely, in the next few days, going to jump on in as well," Melvin Nunn added. "And I know a couple of other kids were waiting to see what Kendrick was going to do." __________________ ![]() Illini are Walken on sunshine......... |

I was present with Brian Cook & his family along with lon kruger the day he signed with Illinois , I was present today at the football game only reason I went was to support Kendrick and he ended up committing. I'm so proud to be part of illinination
When they introduced groce after the first quarter of today's game I wanted to run out there and hug him and tell him thanks for giving illini basketball a pulse again! But I feared being tackled by security and jail time Last edited by Mbrew87; Sep 15, 2012 at 03:40 PM. Reason: Left words out |

Great to have Kendrick aboard! Man, Groce is a recruiting machine. Can't wait to see what he can do as a developer, motivator, and game coach
Also, great work Dan. This is the only Illini site worth reading on a consistent basis. |

Great news. I am excited about this commitment, first and foremost, because Kendrick is an impact player who I believe can help elevate our program. Second, for establishing ties to Chicago. But how about this for a third, added bonus: What this will do to elevate our profile nationwide. Let's not forget that Nunn plays on one of the top HS teams in the nation, with the top player in the country who has already been on the cover of Sports Illustrated. How many times will Simeon be on ESPN this year? And, to my knowledge, Nunn is the first high major commit on the roster. How sweet will it be to hear "Illinois commit" every time he scores on national TV? Big, big-time recruit for a number of different reasons. I-L-L

I had to watch the football game on replay, I shut myself off from the internet all day, I come here to talk about it, and what a pleasant surprise!

Welcome Kendrick! Absolutely incredible Mr. Groce and staff, you truly are a superstar coach in the making. Now we know why Izzo was campaigning so hard for Weber!

Welcome to the Nunn family from all of Illini Nation! While Illinois has slipped in bball in recent years, kudos to you, Kendrick for seeing the 'glass as half-full'! You'll have challenges and rewards in basketball and the biggest reward of all in a college degree from the University of Illinois! So, have fun, study hard, too and enjoy the ride to the top of the Big Ten and the Big Dance!

Need to get off of Parker. This is not happening as KRAMER, BTF, RYANK and SALTY have said many times. If we lock up Djack it will be HUGE. Then we can hope for a XRM commit. Groce has a plan and he wants a lot of players that can go one on one or create a miss-match with the dribble i.e. kick-outs or little passes inside to a big for a wide open dunk.. Parker is a pipe dream. These three are a realistic option that can really execute what Groce is trying to showcase to the country and future recruits for this program. The man should show us exciting basketball and I for one am very optimistic for the product that he is building.
I am still awaiting the other pieces of the "train" to link up but if this happens we could see the start of something we have been longing. There will no longer be any posts about a ball handler waiting until the last 10 seconds of the shot clock and hoping the obvious WAY TOO high ball screen turns into a wide open shot. CHEERS to a good day! |
