I just saw where Chris Jones will be going to the 'Ville. I have trust in Groce and what you guys are saying but its hard not to be worried just a little. I think the distance and DJ being basically KU's third choice, will be a huge factor.

Look, its great logic by the staff to keep recruiting top talent and have them on campus, for one, it keeps pressure on the guys you really want to commit letting them know that there are others that they are courting and in tandem it is a great back up system in case the "go to" guys want to go somewhere else.

No need to "freak" out, I think we all can remember former staff putting all their effort "eggs in one basket" into one or two recruits and have very rudimentary back ups.

Seems he's giving ND a chance to save face and find a backup. He doesn't want to completely diss the local school. His ND visit is being compared to Rose's visit to us way back when.

I wouldn't think that Melvin Nunn would make that comment regarding DJ, if he didn't have a good reason not to. Sounds like he is "in the know" about DJ's decision. Go Illini!!

And if he really does know about DJ's situation, he said in the next few days

He has always been my Plan B (like that matters to anyone:laugh if we do not get DJ. He is 6'2-6'3, athletic, handles the ball well, and can score from all over the court. Gives us the opportunity to take a smaller change of pace PG (Ulis please!!) in 2014.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but I highly doubt DJax commits prior to his ND official (this weekend, IIRC). Look for a commitment the following week. And, yes, FWIW, I think it looks like the University of Illinois. Oskee-Wow-Wow!

Asked whether he still plans to take his two remaining scheduled visits to Florida State (this coming weekend) and Kansas (Oct. 12), Jones said, “Most likely not, but I don’t know.”

I dont really see the hype in Ullis for next year. If things fall into place and we get DJ (especially if we get XRM too), id much rather have guard like Lyle if we go after a guard, and if not we should be going after players like KBD. No offense to Ullis, but with out limited schollies I just dont see where he fits into the equation anymore if things work out they way they seem to be going.

IF we were to get DJ and XRM, I dont see Groce going after a guard in 14 at all. If we get DJ and miss on XRM then he possibly grabs Powell and still doesnt go after a guard in 14. Landing DJ will decide a great many things lol.

You know it would be cool if Parker goes on his 2 year mormon mission then came back in 2015 to play one year of college. THAT would probably give us the best chance to get him.

Pipe dream I know.

Powell committed to Alabama.

Ulis is really, really good! Very underrated.

If we have 2 rides, no guards (probably): KBD & a big (hopefully Cliff Alexander)

If we have 3 rides, I can't see Groce passing on Lyles if he wants to join the party.

2 (maybe more if transfers occur) of the 4 scholarships for next season are hopefully going to go to a combination of KBD, Cliff, Lyles, and Lyle.

Ryan, is that your take on the situation, or are you hearing whispers? Just curious.

Interesting Q & A with Trey Lyles' Dad linked. IU seems but a distant memory for them. Too bad, so sad... Of course, this piece will have a UK and Louisville slant to it.

A little of both to be honest. Definitely some strong orange smoke regarding DJ and Illinois...patience people...

Arghh, I meant Lyle. Not sure why I get those two mixed up.

As far as KBD goes, I wonder if Nunn's commit tweet will influence him in any way.
The "My state. My school." sentiment could become a really strong selling point (or slogan) for top level in-state recruits.

I have a feeling Jackson gave a verbal, but if I was Jackson, the comments by Nunn's father may turn him off.

Anyway, I wont be confident until I see a public commit.
