Does anyone think we are not focusing enough on the tweet where DJ stated that he and his brother are a "package deal"? If you look, His brother is following Groce, Beckman and Jamal Walker. no sign of any ND coaches on his followings. Or was the consensus that this was just a joke?

Klee at least entertained the thought that the programs could work together to make it happen.

Honestly, if that's truly what it takes, I bet Mike Thomas steps in and we have a new RB commit in the class of 2013.

This is the best possible news we could have hoped for after the ND visit. It's very positive for IL, IMO. Wait until Thursday (or whenever) to give the appearance to ND that he had to take his time and think about it.

If it's ND, why the heck would he need to wait? What's the benefit?

Since my source will be sitting very close to Groce during games this fall, I'm very confident with his info. This is the same person who told me that Nunn was a done deal when everyone on here thought he was a long shot. Nothing has changed over the weekend. My personal worry was that he'd have a change of heart while on the visit and commit to ND. Him leaving w/o doing so is huge. We have all fluctated up and down based on every little thing that happens and the "recruiting insiders" continue to stay neutral and say it's close. The one constant has been my source who hasn't wavered once. While DJ could shock me and change his mind, I'm not going to panic unless my source does. Stay thirsty my friends.

I'm just reading through the thread and this was the only post that stuck out at me and I want to respond to a few things here.

First, remember you're the only one saying stuff like this, no ND/IL insiders who have a lot of contact to their respective coaching staffs are presenting any of this stuff in any way/shape/form, in fact some have refuted this specifically, so you're sort of on an island when it comes to this. Clearly that's okay with you but lots of people have refuted the fact that DJ is "locked up". You could be right but I'm just here trying to put both sides to this story.

Second, DJ was never going to verbal to ND this weekend, no matter what happened. His visit there was not the "time to commit" because he was never going to verbal to anyone on any visit. If someone disagrees with that or doesn't understand why that is, then they don't really know who Jackson is. So I am not sure why you were worried about that. DJ's plan was always to take his visits and then make his decision. That's what he's doing right now.

Third, I know what John Groce has been telling a select few recruits, and he has not told them Demetrius Jackson is coming to Illinois. He feels good about it, the entire staff does, but none of them would bet their jobs on it. That "good feeling" rubbed off on Melvin and Kendrick, and was conveyed to other recruits. They feel like they have convinced Demetrius that Illinois is the best school for his basketball future. But absolutely no one is sure. Let's not forget that this is Demetrius Jackson, and there are a ton of other factors involved in this recruitment and that it's not possible to accurately predict how much weight DJ is putting into each factor because only he knows that.

EDIT: His AAU coach says hes announcing Thursday sooooo yeah.

Lastly, I echo your last statement. Stay thirsty my friends. Even if Illinois doesn't land Demetrius Jackson, John Groce has proven he's legit and so has his staff, and they'll have this program back soon enough.

I try to sit back and analyze everything objectively as possible, and it just seems that when all is said and done I have to believe BTF knows exactly what he is talking about. I guess we will find out Thursday, but doesn't this kind of remind people of the Chasson Randle recruitment in reverse where we were the local state school but he never would commit and then goes to Stanford. Maybe not, but either way, I can't wait until Jackson dons that orange & blue hat Thursday.
