For those who do not want to click the link for whatever reason.

Flyin Illini - What position is he playing now? Is he kind of stuck on the block due to his size at that age? Or does he play more of a wing position? What are his positives/negatives at such a young age?
I'm always rooting for someone from Kewanee....but roy & Harv have no right to call that the quad cities...darn chicago folks

I'd still prefer the staff go national / international and really get their man, but if they feel they can be successful this way or don't have great chances with the pure PG talents in 2014, gotta keep on keeping on.

PS re: Hyron Edwards. Now come on, East Chicago can't be a IU / PU / ND stronghold right? I don't know too much about Indiana Prep Hoops but I mean this kid has to be a realistic target out of Indiana right? I mean East Chicago is just over the border. It's named East Freaking Chicago. That part of the state can't be dyed in crimson and cream or solid boiler up or golden domers right?

Would still hate to wait until 2015 and beyond to see the full implementation / true visualization of the Groce offensive system.
I know I'm beating a dead horse here but my gosh if they aren't gonna go after an "elite PG" in 2014 I just don't understand why they won't "take a chance" on shorty...... tyler ulis. I know he's not "elite" but he is a true PG and I think he is a damn good PG. But what do I know

The staff is going after an elite PG in 2014 and it's a high priority. Lyle, Zabo, Ulis, etc. And regardless if they land one of them, they will continue to go after Edwards. Much like the Tate comment, don't read too much into a lot of these recruiting comments about not going after other PG's.

Meh, coaches make mistakes all the time in talent evaluation. I trust Groce more than myself and any poster on this board, but Ulis is really intriguing to me. Whether he winds up in Champaign or not, I'll probably follow his college career to see if he is able to live up to his cautiously optimistic hype. Personally, I'd like to see him play here (especially if we don't land Lyle or Zabo). Groce may or may not be wondering if he should offer Ulis a scholarship. If Groce never offers that doesn't automatically mean he didn't make a mistake. But I will definitely trust Groce's strategy until he gives me reason not to.

Don't buy into that argument. I hate when athletes criticize reporters just because they didn't play the game. Crazy.

And Champaign/Urbana is a suburb of Chicago by their logic.

In an article about Jaquan Lyle from about a week ago (Sorry, I looked and couldn't find it back), they said that he was from just outside of Chicago.
I guess you could say that Evansville, IN is just outside of Chicago...Maybe if you're from Japan.

If Ulis can play up to the level of the B1G then Groce will consider him, I believe. Ulis would have to be so much more quicker than the other B1G PGs to make up for his lack of height. Groce is keeping an eye on Ulis, right?

I thought I saw that Marian Catholic (Ulis) was scheduled to play Lanphier (Austin) this season. That should be a good measuring stick for both players.

What's the latest on Colbert?
I can't imagine that if he's continuing to take visits to schools outside of his top 3 that he's very confident in any of his finalists.
Is he still a possibility to chose Illinois?
It just seems as though interest by both sides may be fading.

Im 99% sure Dan posted on this thread, a page or two ago, that he is visiting Villinova. So who knows what he is thinking.

and back in 1989 the ihsa announcer in the AA state championship baseball game said Harrisburg was a suburb of Carbondale.... Carbondale hardly has Subdivisions let alone suburbs... Harrisburg is 30 miles away.

Well I think it is clear he is not leaning towards Miami like some thought, or Seton Hall like some felt with the last minute visit.

I still think we have a good shot here. The longer the better it seems actually.

that's what she said. Sorry...had to do it.

But yeah...I really hope the door on Colbert is still open. Would be nice to get some size for depth.

Basically the issue with Colbert is distance. He really likes Illinois and everything it offers, but it's a long way from home. Now he's looking at SH and possibly Villanova to see if they offer anything similiar to Illinois. Staff still feels like they have a good shot so we'll see what happens.

Considering the talent around Morgan and the additional potential talent around Morgan in future classes, I can live with a minor upgrade of Pruitt at the 5.

More importantly, can he pass the ball back out of the post when he's double teamed? I hated that Pruitt would never pass the ball back.
