I wouldn't be surprised by any result this week. Based upon what we have seen so far, it is hard to predict a victory against anyone. But we don't have enough of a history with Beckman for me to be completely cynical about his ability to turn things around.
I will say this. If Beckman can somehow get everyone pulling together (think of the first half of the Wisky game) and we come out on top of the turnover battle, a victory in this game would really help give the staff something positive to build upon for recruiting. __________________ ONLY ORANGE! |

Interesting (and slightly depressing) fact: there are only two programs in the BIG with fewer all-time NCAA wins than the Illini.
Indiana is one of them. |

I agree Groundhogday.
If the Illini can muster up a win this week, it will give the team a jolt and a belief that a bowl game is attainable. Our schedule lightens up from here on out as only Ohio St. is a far superior program that we must face. Thus far, we've played three of the best programs in the BIG. This week and three of our other four remaining games are against comparable programs. Realistically, we should judge Beckman, the coaching staff and the team on how they perform versus Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota and Northwestern as these teams are the teams with comparable talent. Since this is Beckman's first year, and has therefore been unable to fully implement his program, I'm willing to be patient. I am not as concerned with the results so much, but as to how the team competes against similar talent. Here's hoping for a triumph by the Illini! |

Illinois -1 vs Indiana at home: A scrap line at best. Sure Indiana has scored a bunch of points on offense last few games will give you that. On the other side that defense of Indiana is nothing to write home about.
Nathan Sheelhaase the QB of Illinois has had great success vs Indiana the last 2 years in moving the ball on Indy. Illinois is getting back 6 players for this game, let me repeat 6 players all game changers type players. Illinois has been hurt wounded deeply on defense and special teams this year and it shows, Now they are about to get healthy. A healthy Illinois team head to head should beat Indiana by 10 at home. Good luck all |

Looks like Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Indiana have won fewer than UI. http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/ Bringing Nebraska and Penn St. in makes our standing look worse than it is. |

We are playing Indiana at home. We are the underdog. The performance of Illinois football from one season to the next defies explanation. As a sales promotion premium, every season ticket holder should be offered psychotherapy.

I do like our blue...but dangit I wish the players liked orange more. Maybe in the entire remake of our identity orange will be the main thing. Some people aren't fans of orange but I totally am on board, I hope we can make it our identity.

Just the mention of Moeller makes me cringe. Can we relive the 0-0 tie vs. NW. Not with the new rules.
Aggregate score of last 4 is scary. |
