GREAT! Now for those who don't follow the recruits until they commit (me) what's the expectation for Colbert?

Much more tactful and gracious than SM's commitment...albeit less funny.

I think people might underestimate how big of a deal this is.

Illinois does not usually get guys from the East Coast...especially when they have offers from other Eastern teams, and a team from Florida.

It can be difficult to bring those kids to the ''middle of nowhere'' as they probably think, but that is a testament to how good of a recruiter Groce is.

1. Groce will make me a better person and player
2. Illinois with a huge alumni network
3. Working hard in the weight room
4. Delayed announcement because Hurricane Sandy is bigger than his announcement
5. Thanked the veterans
6. Thanked his coaches and his parents.

Welcome to the Illini young man.

+1...Very educated decision. Excited for him...Welcome!

He basically picked up an entire team in the 2013 class. Seriously impressive.
Plus 2 years of Ray Rice.

Welcome to the family, Colbert.

I haven't seen anything talking to his current ranking. I know those are awful subjective, but where is he falling right now on the various ranking sites?

Yeah, and in less than 6 months given the time it took him to get fully staffed. Absolutely unbelievable foundation for the future.

Now, focus 100% attention on KBD, Zabo, and Austin and see if we can grab any two of them. IF KBD commits earlier than most expect, then we could see Zabo or Austin do the same just to join in before the door closes on '14. Give Groce 2+ years on the class of '15, and watch out.

amazing-- only read page 1, but i do not remember us winning a recruitment like this.

top 100 pf from outside our usual recruiting base who visits, and then picks us a month later after adding another school, 'nova.

coach groce is earning his rep as a recruiter with this first class. now on to '14 and kbd.

lastly, when can these kids sign, again?

Colbert: 'I really trust them'

"It was amazing at Illinois. They really broke it down with how they can use me in the system and their plans to move forward and I really trust them," Colbert said. "It was really family oriented, all the way down to the alums. The best thing about the university is that it was warm and welcoming."

Illinois lands commitment from PF Colbert

ESPN recruiting coordinator Reggie Rankin believes Colbert will be a success at Illinois.

"Colbert is a very athletic power forward that excels in transition and has the skill to be a match-up problem," Rankin said. "He is an excellent finisher and has great upside. He will fit the Illinois system as with his ability to play inside and face in the spread pick and pop or roll offense. Colbert will also be an asset on the glass."
