Nice. I really liked listening to the kid talk at the end. He's obviously nervous and a bit tongue tied but he certainly nailed the right comments in my mind.
1. Groce will make me a better person and player
2. Illinois with a huge alumni network
3. Working hard in the weight room
4. Delayed announcement because Hurricane Sandy is bigger than his announcement
5. Thanked the veterans
6. Thanked his coaches and his parents.
Welcome to the Illini young man.
+1...Very educated decision. Excited for him...Welcome!
He basically picked up an entire team in the 2013 class. Seriously impressive.
Yeah, and in less than 6 months given the time it took him to get fully staffed. Absolutely unbelievable foundation for the future.
Now, focus 100% attention on KBD, Zabo, and Austin and see if we can grab any two of them. IF KBD commits earlier than most expect, then we could see Zabo or Austin do the same just to join in before the door closes on '14. Give Groce 2+ years on the class of '15, and watch out.
"It was amazing at Illinois. They really broke it down with how they can use me in the system and their plans to move forward and I really trust them," Colbert said. "It was really family oriented, all the way down to the alums. The best thing about the university is that it was warm and welcoming."
ESPN recruiting coordinator Reggie Rankin believes Colbert will be a success at Illinois.
"Colbert is a very athletic power forward that excels in transition and has the skill to be a match-up problem," Rankin said. "He is an excellent finisher and has great upside. He will fit the Illinois system as with his ability to play inside and face in the spread pick and pop or roll offense. Colbert will also be an asset on the glass."
