NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Columbia University will offer a new course for upperclassmen and grad students next semester. An Occupy Wall Street class will send students into the field and will be taught by Dr. Hannah Appel, a veteran of the Occupy movement.

The course begins next semester and will be divided between class work at Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus and fieldwork that will require students to become involved with the Occupy movement outside of the classroom.

Hey, I've been in this movement for the last 2.5 years, it's called Occupy the Classroom. I go to class and learn useful things so I can get a useful degree. The end goal is to improve myself and my level of knowledge so I'm qualified to earn things and not reliant on handouts. Crazy, right? Now someone start writing the NYT article about me...

I've got a wtf of my own just 2 days into the year. I broke my toe getting out of the shower. seriously talk about as un-manly a way to break your toe as possible, but yep I sure did. was stepping out of the shower, didnt raise foot high enough and jabbed my toe into the side of the shower/tub.

oh well it gets me off work for a few days. now if there was just something to do. good thing for me im supposed to stay off of it as much as possible for a few days, or my wife would be putting me to work around the house

So, this 15-year-old supposedly oversleeps and misses his stop (Tulsa, OK), flying on to St. Louis, where he gets off the plane and…

- Asks a security guard for help, but the guard refuses to help him
- Aimlessly walks the city (with no money or cell phone???)
- Calls 911, but the operator says they aren’t a taxi service and hangs up
- Finds a police station, but no one is there

Meanwhile, his family didn’t report him missing until the next day.

I smell a request for financial settlement.

The police departments right around the airport (where the kid was wandering for 24hrs) aren't very concerned with doing anything that doesn't generate revenue, (writing traffic tickets).

Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop Arrested in Madison, WI

Police responded to the 800 block of E. Mifflin Street reference complaints from neighborhood residents, revolving around excessive drinking and drug use near the Reynolds Park area. On 1/5/2012 at 2:57pm, officers came into contact with a subject that they had previous dealings with, identified as Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop. The suspect in this case was occupying an area near the tennis courts, and there were specific bail conditions that he is not to be in possession of any weapons or drugs based on strict probation rules that have been put into place.

Officers took the suspect into custody, and a search of his property unveiled that he was in possession of Marijuana, paraphernalia, and a knife. While enroute to the Dane County Jail, Beezow Doo Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop told officers that he would “Get even with them". It is unclear what the suspect meant by his statement, but he was booked into the jail nevertheless.

BTW, remember the ban on 100 watt light bulbs?

Apparently that must have gone into play Jan 1.

I was in Home Depot the other day, and they are now selling 90 watt bulbs instead. I think if I were the boss over at GE or Philips, I'd make them 99 watts, just as a matter of principle.

But 90 is ok.

Man gets $25 Million for wrongful conviction

Thaddeus Jimenez was 13 years old when he was convicted in 1993 for the murder of 19-year-old Eric Morro. Jimenez served 16 years of a 45-year sentence in prison before prosecutors asked a judge to vacate his conviction and he received a certificate of innocence in 2009.

Jimenez, who’s now 32 years old, is “thrilled” with the verdict, according to attorney Jon Loevy.

Maybe this isn't a WTF story because he clearly deserves something, but $25 Million is insane. That's over $1.5 M per year for his 16 years in prison.

NV I just read last week that the law was put on hold for another year or so, but the manufactures are still changing their bulbs as if it was in affect.

Yeah, I recall the talk about putting it on hold, but didn't hear what came of it.

It amazes (enrages!) me the folly our pols engage in.

I read one eval of BO's speach last night saying that there was not a single mention of free market enterprise as a solution to our economic woes. All his "solutions" involve even more government.
