Not very exciting matchups. GT was pretty bad last year, so hopefully we win handily at the AH.

I agree that Georgia Tech at AH should be about as favorable a match-up as could have been assigned. This is not an inspiring pairing, but we will take a victory.

So each night of the Challenge there's 2 games on ESPN, 2 on ESPN2, and 2 on ESPNU.

I'll go with the wild guess of 8:15pm CT, ESPNU, for the GT-IL game.

Definitely a good matchup for us. I know it's early still, but you have to like the B1G's chances of winning again.

Yep. In the first 8 years the only NR team we played was UNC in the 2005 rematch of the NC game, and that team ended the season a 3 seed. We had 5 games against top 12 teams and two against #1 overall.

This will mark 4 of the last 5 years that Illinois has played a NR opponent. Hopefully after this years we'll be headed back in the right direction.

Isn't matchups based on how each team finished in the conference last season? We aren't going play NC or Duke because of our poor finish last season. It has no reflection on what we are expected to do this year.

Seems to me like the bolded teams above are reasonable to be "W's", and that's 6 of 12 games already.

I'd probably put VT and Wake's games in the ACC bucket, but they aren't locks, either.

Of the other 4, I don't know enough yet, but would guess they split 2-2.

Bottom line early prediction: 8-4 B1G. That would be sweet, indeed!

I think it's based more on predicted finish of next season.

It mostly is. Outside of the Minn-FSU game, the teams playing were pretty close in the final standings.

I'm not quite as optimistic as others--looks like 7-5 ACC to me. Iowa/VaTech and Purdue/Clemson are toss-ups to me right now and I give the edge to the home team. BC will handle PSU, the Terps will beat the Kitties in a battle of mediocrity, Carolina will squeak one out against the Hoosiers, and tOSU and Duke will be perhaps the best non-conference game of the entire season.

UNC loses almost its entire starting lineup from last season. IU returns pretty much everyone and is ranked 1st preseason. Plus it's at IU. I'll go with IU by double digits. Otherwise your picks are similar to mine.
