Who knows what's going on with Illini? Not us.

No one can answer the most-asked question: "How will Illini football do this year?"

Face it, coach Tim Beckman doesn't know himself. This is a mystery. A polygraph test wouldn't help. And with Rantoul behind us, there'll be no more hints.

Sunday was our last view of what has now become top-secret preparation. You may need clearance to view the Red Grange statue up close. Stadium intruders will be handcuffed and blind-folded.

I saw that Tajarvis Fuller broke his hand last week. Does anyone have an update on his status? (I know Beckman is real quiet when it comes to releasing injury updates.)

Saw a rumor of 4-6 weeks. Not sure how true obviously with injuries being kept quiet.

I think the hand probably takes 4-6 weeks to heal fully but I think he can probably play through it with a cast, if necessary. They might ease him in if possible to avoid prolonging the recovery.

I think he will be fine....yes can play with a cast but hes gonna be taking mental reps for awhile prolly another week and then have a soft cast on his and let him slowly get back into (maybe not live contact) but drills and then he should be good to go in about 2.5/ 3 weeks

POP Players for yesterday's scrimmage are O-Scheelhaase, D-Foster, ST-A. Williams, and our "de-striper" was Bentley. One day better! #Illini

Cranky Old Coot Alert: I played with a broken hand once the very same week I broke it. I wrapped it up in a bunch of bandages until it was darned near a boxing glove. You couldn't feel anything hitting it, though the whole hand did get a bit sore during the game. I'd have had no chance at catching anything though, so maybe it would be more of a problem for a safety, I dunno.

I doubt that happens since he will miss perhaps one game and is already the 2nd best star-LB on the team. He might even be starting by the end of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if Fuller played a bit in the opener with some sort of soft cast.
