Looking forward to Tempe and wondering what Illini events will be going on? Where's everyone pre-gaming? How about an "Illini Bar" for Friday night?

Some info for those of you not familiar with Tempe/Phoenix area here are a couple links about the light rail system and the hotels/bars/restaurants along or nearby the rail. It is an incredible deal and easy to use. A good way to party, enjoy the game, and get back to your hotel safely.

Thanks for the info Az.
Heading out there early Thursday morning. Golfing 18 Thursday, 36 Friday, and 18 Saturday morning. I'm sure we will be looking for places to grab some drinks in the evening so I'll have to check out the places you mentioned!

Whoop, whoop! Planning to roll in for the game myself, probably making the 7 hour drive early saturday morning. Where are others sitting? Anyone have section numbers or tailgating lots for Illini figured out?

Anyone in section 30? I'm also interested in knowing when and where folks might be getting together prior to the game. Tailgating or a local watering hole is fine with me. I'll be taking the light rail to avoid traffic so can meet anywhere along the route. I posted links earlier in the thread for those interested.

I hear you and feel the same way. Living in NM you probably wouldn't mind sitting outside when it's 100 degrees. Well, when you get situated you might want to post the lot you are in on IL with your smartphone in case some of the faithful can join you
The light rail stops right in front of the stadium but all of the lots are on the other side. Still a reasonable walking distance if you have a healthy set of legs.

Hey guys, I'm planning on going to the game and hoping to sit with fellow Illini fans. Any thoughts on what section(s) to look for tickets in?

The phoenix illini club also purchased a group of over 500 tickets...section 27 are some of them. Gives you an idea, Kev.

Thought I'd let everyone know about this event, very close to the stadium, I believe..No registration required, just go!
Saturday afternoon, September 8th: The UIAA is planning an event at Macayo's Depot Cantina at 4:30pm. The back of the restaurant has been reserved, so enter through the Caboose Room. They will have cheerleaders and Illini dignitaries |

That link isn't working, or was it even meant to be a link? As the crow flies it's about 1/4 mile from the stadium, with crosswalks, traffic, etc.. I'd say it's a 10-15 minute walk to the stadium. Macayo's is a fun place to hang out. I've been spending most Friday happy hours at a nearby Macayo's in Mesa. Good Mexican food and good Mexican beer! It's not what most folks might be used to, Tex-Mex style, but a bit more authentic. And it's close to the light rail I've mentioned previously, the Mill Ave/3rd stop is a stones throw away. I suppose you could even take the rail to the stadium which is at Veterans Way and College, the next stop heading West. But it will be such a nice day you might as well walk it

Whoop, whoop! We are heading out around 1 pm MDT tomorrow, 7 hours to Tempe, then the party begins!
We are sitting in section 213, row 26. Come say hi if anyone is up in the cheap seats! Still trying to figure out where a good tailgating area is for Illini fans, is anyone else planning to tailgate before the game? One last question... does anyone know if the event Friday night at Dobson Inn is open to anyone, or just those that booked through the Phoenix Illini Club? Extremely excited to get there for a weekend of fun. Let's cap it off with a win!!

I'm glad to hear there's all this Illini stuff going on both inside and outside the stadium. There's nothing better than hearing a home crowd quiet and one or two sections of the stadium just erupting after a big Illini play. Be loud guys!!!!!

Agreed Macayo's is nice, and very casual so you can get a little boisterous there. Great for parties.
If you're looking for a beer, Bandersnatch brewpub is right on campus. Great beer, may be packed. Expect you'd see a lot of ASU fans. Try the milk stout - outstanding last I had it |
