Now that we've taken Maui and beaten Gonzaga, I think we can legitimately boast of being one of the few undfeated teams left. Here's the list as of 12/11:
#1 Indiana 9-0 #2 Duke 9-0 #3 Michigan 10-0 #4 Syracuse 8-0 #5 Florida 7-0 (plays AZ next) #8 Arizona 7-0 #10 Illinois 11-0 #11 Cinci 9-0 (plays New Mex in Dec) #17 New Mexico 10-0 #23 Wichita St 9-0 Wyoming 10-0 Charlotte 9-0 LSU 6-0 Hard to believe we got here, hard to believe we're in the top 10, and hard to believe that despite being in the top 10, there's still 3 conference foes ahead of us. Gonna enjoy it while we have it. The schedule will get harder.

This is an impressive team. They absolutely humiliated Florida State the other night, and wiped the floor with Bo's Badgers and Marquette. Looking forward to finally see them finally beat Calipari in person.
He doesn't get the national attention because UF is not a basketball school, but Donovan is quietly one of the consistently best coaches in the nation. |

Billy Donovan had gotten plenty of national attention. First for winning back to back championships in '06 and '07. Soon after, he signed on as the Orlando Magic head coach, and then abruptly quit and went back to Florida. Florida didn't make the tournament for a couple of years after that, but Donovan seems to have them back on track. He is a really good coach and I expect we will keep hearing from the Florida Gators and Billy Donovan for a long time.

LSU is surprising. Johnny O Bryant has impressed in the couple times I've watched them play. The Tigers might be relative next year to tournament talk with a solid recruiting class along with a bunch of contributing guys from this team. It'll still be a tough year in conference but the NIT shouldnt be out of the question which is great considering all the transfers plus the recent coaching change.
Side not: Ex Tiger Elston Turner who was the teams leading scorer ended up at NC State and will be eligible next season. Big pick up for the Pack who will lose some key players after this season. Don't get him confused with current Aggie Ray Turner but don't get him mixed up with A&M Elston Turner who is a transfer from Washington. |

Undefeated teams eligible to lose this weekend
1. Indiana (vs. Butler) 2. Michigan (vs. WVU) 3. Syracuse (vs. Canisius) 4. Florida (vs. Arizona) 5. Arizona (vs. Florida) 6. Cincinnati (vs. Marshall) 7. New Mexico (vs. New Mexico State) 8. Eastern Kentucky (vs. Illinois) I really, really doubt all of these teams lose, but say they do; Illinois would be one of three undefeated teams left in the country. Even if half of them lose, this narrows the list down to single digits. |

 True! I could see New Mexico or Cincinnati going down today, though. New Mexico State always plays the Lobos tough because they're in-state rivals, and Marshall is an underrated team, while Cincy is an overrated team. Plus, Florida or Arizona will lose. We will be one of a single-digit number of undefeated teams left in the nation after tonight.

That win over Butler in Maui looks a whole lot better now.
