WOW! Big stuff. Maybe 2? 3 would be good competition but I'd hate to be Nebraska....

I can't see division 3 flying just because of the huge travel differences.
Either 1 or 2 would work for me. Though #2 seems to be the easier division for us. |

Option 2, mostly so we can have good Division names.
I'm partial to East and West. I know what they mean |

Ugh having IU and PU split would mean we would have cross divisional permanent rivals, which would probably end up with pairs of UM-UM, IU-PU, PSU-Wis, Iow-MSU, Neb-OSU, Rut-NW, and UI-MD. I don't want us paired up with Maryland. It would make more sense if they took #2 and swapped Purdue and Michigan State then everything is pretty even competition and east-west wise and we would have a cross divisional rival like Indiana. But I understand, this will not likely end up a perfect scenario, so I'll take #2.

Option 2 is the best, option 3 is just...I don't even know. That's the most absurd proposal ever.

I'm for option two. I think the travel considerations for some schools under option 3 would be considerable.

I want option 2, but we need a few variants to the basic east-west split.

Number 2 has to be the winner; it makes the most sense, and give us an easy out of that stupid Legends/Leaders deal. |

East/West and North/South work well for every other conf (except the ACC), so an E/W split is the most logical. Of course we could always try to get cute with the division names again.
My vote: Factories and Farms instead of East/West. ![]() Waddya think? |

Agreed. I would swap Michigan/MSU for Purdue/Northwestern.

I like option 2 best. Option 1 is my second preference. While option 3 is interesting, I think that the travel for the outer division would be difficult and could cause an imbalance over a season - long travel for teams in the outer division contrasted with short distances for the inner division. East-West is fine and more meaningful than Legends and Leaders.

Modified Option 2 - swap Purdue and Mich St. Better power balance? Are the Division names actually up for change?

Option 2 and it's not even close. Rename to East-West.

has there been any discussion of these divisions applying to any other sport that has widespread B1G participation?
once you get to 16, which we will sooner or later, it makes more sense , imo, in having these divisions apply across the board option 2, East & West, makes most sense overall for many reasons. we will be going to 9 conference games, as I suspect the SEC will as well, thru an agreement among the conferences. Option 2 is the only solution. Cut down on travel costs
