I can't help but wonder whether in his mind Amani is satisfied waiting until year 3 to play significant minutes (assuming Dain is back next year), or is there a scenario where he's getting 10+ minutes in B10 games next season and no dnp's?

Luke struggled at times this year finding minutes but also has proven that he can be crucial to our success. I think Brad would want him to stay myself. Remember last year Brad said he had him penciled in as a starter before his injury. How much of a difference that might of made in Luke's development if he hadn't gotten hurt. He plays his butt whenever he's on the floor. He is an everyday guy to me.
Name checks out...

Amani was ahead in the rotation for almost 1/2 the year but had back issues. Dainja only average 3 more minutes a game in conference & that was with 3 15+ min games down the stretch.

Freshman to Soph is usually the biggest jump, have to imagine if his back stays ok AH is not just giving up minutes. Excited to see what he looks like and I think he fits an up tempo offense better than Dainja...who is essentially this team's knuckleballer.

We have no idea if he'll have to wait for year 3. Until his back problems, he was playing quite a bit. I hope Dain and Amani both come back. Those two plus Morez would be a nice rotation at the 4-5 spots. I know we think we'll do well in the portal, but you don't know who we'll get and how good they'll be.

With Amani, I'm more concerned with his back issues. Hopefully the kid has a productive career and hopefully it's with us.

Amani s jumper is not good and ineffective. If he doesn't improve in that area drastically he will not be ahead of Dain in the rotation if they both stay. He isn't now ans I don't expect that to change. Amani will likely be behind Morez too.

Like Coleman early in his career Amani is a good shooter but the shots aren't going in during games. He makes way more than he misses during warm-ups. Hard to come off the bench and shoot sometimes, especially when you have no chance to get in a rhythm. I think with more consistent PT his shooting will look a lot better.

His shot does not look anywhere near as good as Coleman s did early on but hopefully it can and will improve. Coleman s issues with his jumper had more to do with confidence and still does at times imo.

If Ty can develop. a decent midrange shot, IMO NBA teams will be all over him. Young man just finds the ball when it comes to rebounding.
The NBA has no interest in a midrange shot. They want to see he can make a wide open corner 3 and shoot free throws.

But the biggest thing is that with TSJ's departure you assume he'll be getting the toughest defensive assignment every night, against a variety of different player types.

Show excellence and versatility there, make great decisions with the basketball, continue being a chaos agent, and look non-catastrophic when shooting it and the NBA will start seeing echoes of Alex Caruso or Draymond Green.

I wouldn't say he's followed an NBA trajectory to this point, but we all see there's more that might be unlocked there. If he's Da'Monte Williams the next two years, great. If he breaks through beyond that, look out.

Amani and Coleman don't seem similar at all to me. Amani has a very swiss army knife skillset, but within the context of being a power forward, a true big.

Coleman has been a perimeter player in a center's body from day 1.

1000%. Coleman was a point guard growing up. Their games are not similar at all. Also a big difference in their bodies and athleticism.

Yeah Amani and Coleman aren’t the same player at all. Think LeRon Black is a better comp for Amani. A little undersized, below the rim player but a complete bulldog who can also stretch the floor.

I do think he would have carved out some minutes, particularly when Quincy was in his mid season swoon, if not for his back injury. I hope he sees that and sticks around. Going to be a very productive college player.

Hoping Amani gets healthy, he had some definite flashes in his minutes this year and he seems to have solid fundamentals.
