Illinois vs Wisconsin, Saturday, October 19th, 11:00am CT, BTN

I believe this game finishes under the 3 hour mark; and perhaps by quite a bit (our average time of game so far this year is about 3:20 or so).

"ahead of every other candidate"? I don't think anybody at this point is *that* distinguished to merit that view right now. But in the pool of potential candidates, Chip Long deserves strong consideration. Brian Kelly needed a total reboot after a disastrous 2016 and Kelly was on the clock...

    2019-20 Coaching Discussion/Carousel

While we're at it, UAB didn't even have a football team for 2015 and 2016, and since re-assembling the program for the 2017 season, they've won a conference title and gone to two bowls. Oh, and they're 4-1 this year. Yes, well aware the academic requirements at UAB aren't the same as U of I...

From a huge Illini fan in MSP: “Downtown Minneapolis I would say Last Call. Best college football bar downtown for sure”

    2019-20 Coaching Discussion/Carousel

A name to keep an eye on...Sterling Gilbert. New head coach at McNeese State (2-3 so far). He may need some more seasoning and experience so it might not line up with Illinois' (potential) timing right now, but he's someone to keep an eye on. He was Dino's OC at EIU, followed Strong to Texas...

Worth a reminder that the coming into this season, the perceived strength of this team's offense was that 1) we had legit running backs in Corbin/Brown/Bonner and 2) the offensive line was now a veteran group that should produce. We should be pounding the ball the minute we get off the damn bus.

The beauty of the college football season is that it's constantly evolving and what you think you know can often change, for better or worse. Nebraska was a bit of a B1G West darling just a month ago, ranked in the top 25 and a sleeper for a possible CFP run. 5 weekends later and that's all...

The Wisconsin game may be over in 2.5 hours if the defense can't stop them.

Agreed. I put 75% of this on the coaches, and 25% on the players. This team has been hand built by Lovie and coached by his selections.

Well stated, agree w/ all of it. In 2017, it was all because they were young players (totally agreed). In 2018, they had experience but were still very young and developing (I'm on board w/ that). It's now 2019. They're experienced, they're coached up and poised to take the program up a...

Eastern Michigan 34, Illinois 31 POSTGAME

Wanna guess how many stars the EMU team had? A competent coach can make a good team out of 3 stars.

O line was supposed to be a strength of this team, they are not a good unit today.

14-6 at half, 28-13 final, Illini. Illinois will look much better in the second half, in total control of the game, but there will be an odd play or turnover in the red zone so the final score will look closer. IW will play...a few designed runs, a couple easy passes on either roll outs or...

I would temper the thought that we should be able to move the ball on them. As you say, GT is a completely different type of offense, running a pure option game. Few teams do that anymore and they can rack up huge numbers on teams that aren't familiar with defending it. We are an RPO...
