If Georgetown had a football team that'd be their uniforms. Think it'd look much better switching the navy with orange.

Not a fan of the white...actually, haven't been a fan of any combination yet this year.

Somehow the uni's always look better when the team is being chased and not when the team is always chasing.:D

As others have noted, wasn't it Galloping Ghost? Anyway, as long as we're making up new names for our former greats to coincide with our uniform colors, I can't wait to see what we wear in honor of Dick Bluekus or Jeff Jorange. The Ray Whiteschke ones ought to be pretty sharp, too.

Gray ghost comes from a poem. It fits perfectly fine.

These will be the worst uniforms an Illinois team has ever worn, at least until the basketball team wears their grey uniforms.

Just a totally non-sensical look, and I give it a 2% chance that Grange was even a slight consideration into the creation of these uniforms. Nothing more than a half-clever back story to justify the look.

I would bet it was well higher than 2%

Right, but that's just new stickers on the same white helmet shells. There were rumors of some chrome or otherwise gray helmet.

Is this supposed to be the "lamp" we've been hearing about?

If this is the "lamp", count me in the unimpressed camp. Lame. The tops look like something the Cowboys would wear.

:confused:Chrome logo on an accent color? Not to mention that both Illinois and Oregon are Nike schools, so it wouldn't be too surprising if there were some shared ideas between design teams.

If that's what you were going for, that's a real stretch. They look nothing alike except for that.

Not sure how it's a stretch when that's the base of the design, not to mention that my original post said "wonder where this idea came from". In terms of the actual helmets, no, they aren't the same, but I never said they were. I wouldn't expect us to have chrome wings on our helmets nor would I expect Oregon to have a chrome :illinois: on their helmets. I doubt the idea of a chrome logo on a helmet was a completely original idea Nike thought of specifically for Illinois' homecoming uniforms.

The marketing department can't do anything to please Illini fans. Its impossible to make everybody happy you guys know that right.

Yep, it's unbelievable.

Fans of other schools think this is a fantastic look, FWIW

Edit: One more thing...the athletic department/Nike are designing these uniforms with a younger audience in mind (recruits/students/etc). Literally everyone I've talked to here on campus is a big fan of this uniform.

Overall, I like it. Though, I wish they would have used orange instead of blue.

I originally thought they could have added a touch of orange somewhere, but these uniforms are growing on me. I think they will look really good on the field.
