Didn't see this posted, so I apologize if this was mentioned, but it looks like Simms officially changed his Twitter acct. back to a Mizzou commit. Was hoping the flip back to MIZ wasn't true...

Either that or his HS coaches made him do it.

Just wondering is family/friends/associates who are pushing Simms to Mizzou or is it the coaches? If it is the coaches, are they also pushing Stanley Green to Mizzour and/or another school?

Doug wrote an article about Trevour's story.

On a side note, his High School coaches are the ones who made him commit to Illinois. His decision will most likely come down to signing day.

Anything coming out of his camp is just so much hot air imo. I know nobody there this simply my opinion. I don't think this over he probably is still agonizing over the decision. He will either be a signing decision or with in a week of it. By the way not because of drama and name recognition , simply he struggles over it while being pulled both ways by those around him. If momma has a favorite that would be my guess for now.

fwiw, I've also heard his hs coaches were the ones (along with Strong & Greg Taylor) who then subsequently pushed him to commit to Mizzou due to personal interests they had.

I am very close to the situation and I can give you FACTS. There are some thing you might want to hear and there are some things you don't want to hear. In the end, I can and will provide FACTS only. This will be a long one but I feel people are interested.

As a person thats close to it and push Illinois, I can tell you that NO COACH has pushed or mentioned Mizzou to Trevour. Yes a coached stepped in when he heard of the flip back to Mizzou. The kid stated that he wasn't sure and specific Illini alumni called and put a lot of pressure on he so he folded. That coach then instructed him to not answer any calls and talk things over with his mom and make his decision when the time was right. That coached jumped on twitter to clear the air just to correct the perception that Trevour was a flipper.

Now here are FACTS. When Mizzou offered, Trevour wanted to flip immediately. He was advised to think it over as Mizzou is very late to the party. He felt that was the offer he wanted from day one however the OLine coach (now at UOFI) never offered although he dominated the camp like no one has seen in a long time. The Head Coach like him but supported his staff decision. The ONLY reason he didn't offer was because they had commitments already and they were saving the last Scholly for a lineman in Texas. As soon as he left, the offer was made. Now the negative about Mizzou staff. Only Ford is left from the original staff that dealt with ESL. From the looks of things, Ford will be demoted but, that is pure speculation. The new head coach recruited ESL while he was at memphis and passed on Greg and Nate. There is absolutely NO reason to push Mizzou at this time. Only time will tell if the Mizzou relationship remain.

The difficult part about Illinois is NO ONE know what the future holds. Hawthorne was convinced to stay with Illinois by the coaches and when Zook and Koenig left, his stock dropped. Also the need to win immediately forced Hawthorne to play before being 100%. Will Cubit be in the same position trying to impress? Who will the new coach be and what will he think about ESL kids? There are several more questions but, the one thing that is true is Illinois offered Trevour first and never wavered. To most people involved that is huge which is why his decision is so tough. The easy route is Mizzou, the difficult route is Illinois. I say Illinois because they were loyal from the beginning. I know other ESL coaches that feel the same way. Up until a couple of weeks ago the recruiting efforts had been great. Things have changed and some questionable things are starting to show. This can and will ensure a Mizzou signing. Hopefully the move by the coach to stop all contact will slow things down a little. My advise to the Illini recruiter is KEEP YOUR WORD and things will go fine. ESL kids are not going for the fast talk, they are only interested in genuine people. Being that is what made Illinois attractive through all of the coaching issues.

These is the whole story and should not be received in a negative fashion. I hope the kid make a decision that will make him happy.

I apologies for the length but, this is a unique situation. I also know with the increase of negativity towards the coaches, they are losing interest fast on communicating what right to Trevour. That happens, its Mizzou all the way.

I also know he read this sight.

Well, Title, if Trevour reads this site I certainly hope he knows how much he is wanted by Illinois fans.

He's from Missouri and didn't get a Missouri offer until late. He committed to Illinois and that was his best offer. He got what he deemed a better offer and jumped. If things were reversed and Illinois did the same people on this board wouldn't bat an eye. Get over it and move on. To me oline is the least of Illinois worries.

Believe it or not, people DO know about him.. Not sure how much this current staff knows about him, but the kid is a baller in the making. It'll be interesting to see how the new staff at his HS uses him.

Very interested to see how his new staff uses him as well. I'm guessing mostly the same. (Rb/safety)But his new coach has proven track record of winning and proving he can go far when he has talent. I'm not he's ever had talent like he's about to either.

The coach at a private school in an area where nobody wants to attend the public school and they get to compete against little farm towns where even the 4' 8" 105 lb. kids have to start to field a team. Shocker!

I assume the kid will have to attend camps to REALLY be noticed.

The coach who went to 5 state championships with one of those farm town teams.

Depends on if he absolutely dominates on the field next year or not. Either way really, I expect he will be attending camps or something like that.

Who did they hire for their coach?
