Great win. Groce's teams have a history of figuring things out in the second half of the season. With all the injuries and roster instability, it has been more of a challenge this year, but they just might be starting to gel.

Definitely going to be more upsets this year with the way the team played today. Great ball movement and finally a good defensive strategy. Go Illini!

I agree....but we still have a broken roster. Great gameplan given the incredible mismatches against us.

Really liked the full court...perfect team to do it on.

Love this game, really nice to see the help defense against their big guys. Hill and Nunn are awesome!!! Hope they play this well the rest of the year...

Centers? We don't need no stinking centers!

I agree, we do match up with them at all with the injuries we have. OUTSTANDING effort!!!

Team ran offense today and just played much smarter ball. Team didn't settle for 3's they actually penetrated and scored or drew fouls. Illini were in the double bonus early which was a huge benefit. Used the double bonus to use both Lewis and Hill to post up defenders to draw fouls when we wanted to use close and keep the lead. Hope the quick 3 as a focal point of the offense is a thing of the past.

Actually, it could prove their point. We obviously have some talent still on the floor. Why have we looked as bad as we have? Some of the Groce supporters have said that we "just don't have the horses" to defend him. Those looked like horses to me. Guess we will see how the rest of the season goes...

yeah...I still see a deficit of horses. had a great plan and a dearth of execution .... maybe they watched a movie like Hoosiers last night. They got peices....just not enough of them. Motivation, impeccable planning and good execution will get you only so far.

Just got back from picking up my wife and watched the rest of the game. Just fantastic. Is this the turning point? I'm not saying we will make the tourney, but could we have just witnessed the birth of the new Illini team?

They played with great passion, energy, and...dare I say it...a consistent defensive effort! Lots of fun to watch.

Feels fitting that our real downward spiral came in the 2nd half of the Purdue game last year, and that our first real statement game started in the 2nd half of the Purdue game this year.

Just an incredible effort helping with post defense. Happy that Groce decided to challenge their guards every time they brought it up. Purdue can't handle worth a lick. I'm happy that Groce was able to get them to play with effort. This team will be pretty good next year if they can get healthy.
