Soooo, watched the game on my phone using Rutgers stat line and a diehard alum/friend in GA play-by-play texting, until I heard people scream in the Tiki Hut, Ft Myers Beach, FL, bar I was in when Rutgers got that 3 to go to OT. Hadn't wanted to ask them to put on the BTN feed cuz I just knew it would jinx us. So now that others were actually watching at the other end of the bar, we moved and watched all three OTs. Strangers from Bellevue, Freeport, Springfield, and Rockford, high fiving and I-L-L-ing in a bar in FL through 3, yes 3, OT's against a horrible team...needless to say, I am incredibly proud of our Illini kids' resilience and tenacity (especially after that #?!* 3 to tie). Credit Coach Groce and Kudos to what's left of our team for NOT giving up! P.S. Shots followed...:illinois

Now that's an awesome story!
Beats the heck out of a bunch of Bitc&@rs and whiners after a road win where we scored 110 points and the kids played there butts off.

After watching our transition defense tonight I hope nobody questions our decisions to abandon offensive rebounding in favor of getting back the rest of the season, lol.

Still happy to come out with the w, regardless of the opponent

Kudos to Hill for the job at the line tonite. If I recall, he missed his first 2 of the night, so to go the rest of the way and only miss 1 more, tremendous job.

Anyone else glad that Rutgers didn't utilize the 2 fouls they had to give at the end of regulation? I fully expected them to take one every 5-7 seconds and leave us with nothing but a desperation shot at the buzzer since we wouldn't have any time to set up anything.

Nice to see the Lewis video. Having all that family there to watch him play, and have the Illini pull out the win will be a great memory for all of them to have.

I think he missed 1 of 2 and then either 1 or both of his second set. But I've been drinking... so who knows.

As for your second point, yes, I couldn't believe it, and I think Malcolm was expecting it too judging by the way he stood with the ball for so long.

Awesome! Yeah, we're not going to win the Big Ten this year, but glad you can still have fun and enjoy a win.

I have to hand it to Kendrick tonight too. Injured, but desperately needed by the team, he gutted it out. His shot was not falling, but he was tremendous on the defensive boards--and even managed to hit one of the biggest shots of the night in overtime.

So this is something I never thought I'd say, but I want to see more of the offense run through Mav. I'm more impressed with him the more I watch him this year - baby hooks, some drop steps, and that midrange jumper is money. But at least get the post involved in the game so that the defense cheats and it gets open looks for our shooters/cutters.

Props to Mav on being dedicated in the weight room and with his diet. He's really evolved from this guy...

This post gives me so much pride and hope. Our basketball and athletics program are in near shambles, yet Illini fans still congregate in front of their tvs, on their phones, in bars, in tiki huts- anywhere- to watch our team play anyone. I believe there's an inscription that reads in the locker room or Ubben: The sacred tradition of the Fighting Illini will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid. That rings ever so true to this day, especially for the fans. Thank you for sharing.

Go Illini.

Okay, I love the M & M look and he needs to bring it back immediately!

Can't wait to get to work today. A co-worker is a Maryland alum. I'm sure I'll hear about those 3 OTs! Don't know if he had btn2go. I kind of doubt it.

Ugly win? Heck yes, but beautiful just the same. No Thorne, no Black, no Finke? No problem!!

Kendrick gutting it out while less than healthy.

We hung in there time after time. I'd sure love to see Malcolm be allowed to lower his shoulder and just shove defenders out of the way so he could score or be fouled, but I guess that was just for Rutgers players.

BTW for the return Rutgers games: Make. Sanders. Go. Left.

Love the way the boys competed. Played their tails off.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game unlike many of you I guess.Ireally don't get some of you.Did you not see the game Mav had?Or JCL?Did you pay attention to what DJ was doing out there with and without the ball?Nunn and Hill were pretty bad offensively most of the first half but we were 3 behind at halftime thanks to others stepping up.At this point its not about winning or losing but growing and improving and some of our players are doing just that.We aren't going to turn into a good team overnight so for your own sakes maybe you better sit the Iowa game out, probably not going to be pretty.Unless of course your just in the mood to piss and moan.Hey don't forget to kick the dog.

BTW, I think the team ought to be commended not only for the effort, under the circumstances, but for only 11 turnovers in 55 minutes. Lewis only had 1 with 8 assists. I know Hill had 4 in 49 minutes, including a few late that lead to layups, but I am willing to give our best player a break.

Also, I am sure Khalid would like the last play in the 1st OT over -- for some reason, he headed down the floor after the missed shot rather than boxing out or defending. All's well that ends well but that was "not good."

Go Illini! I will take a road win over a terrible team compared to any loss.

I actually think that MH missed 3 of his first 4, then went perfect. As his legs got more tired, he got better. The opposite of standard, that's for sure.

Great win, guys.

With all the adversity this season, it is a testimony to both the players and the coach that they have not quit, and keep fighting.

Of course, I recorded the game, and with the 20-minute extension Direct TV provides, the recording stopped after the second overtime. Another way Direct TV gives one the "hot poker." :):):)

So Lani Kai or Parrott Key? Is there a good Illini Bar in Fort Myers?

This one is a hidden gem, part of the Lighthouse complex, right after you get over the bridge on the left (on Fourth Street). Lots of B1G fans, lots of tvs, and a band with a great female singer on a Wed. night ;)

Directv allows you to choose how long the extension is when you record up to 3 hours. For live sporting events I always add 1.5 hours.
