Or the Collins/Brunson/Evans/Alexander variety....
BRUNSON? Is this folk lore like Rennie dunked on Shaq?

What makes you say this?
Heh. It's Simeon and he was supposed to be the next big thing from them. Still surprised he's not on there.Tough to make the Top 100 from the JV team.
If Williams committed weeks ago, why the big celebration in Groce's office before the Minny game?
These recruits may say they want to play at Illinois, but that isn't a commitment.
Did anyone actually specify that the celebration in Groce's office took place before the Minny Game?

DM could have told Groce he has committed if he is still there. Then while on campus he and Frankie met with Whitman and asked if he Groce was going to be here next year. T
When Whitman said yes, DM announces that night. That's a way it could have happened.
Williams is a 2017 recruit and would not be here until 2017-18 season, so even Whitman hypothetically saying that Groce would be here next year offers little security to Williams, as he will still be in HS. Unless Whitman guaranteed a longer term commitment to Groce, but I think that is a stretch.
Are we moving on from Verge?
Tilmon has to make it public. He has already committed. Now, that could obviously change.
Williams committed to Groce a couple of weeks ago. Sunday was just the public announcement which is obviously way more important.

As I said, these silent commitments can change. That happens all the time. But we are very close on Tilmon and getting Williams helps.
I obviously cannot reveal my source or he won't be a source. He is also the one that told me (and I shared on here) nine days before Elijah Thomas committed that he was going to Texas A&M when everyone thought he was going to Oklahoma State or Illinois. He got his info from the coaches who told him that they could not match what A&M could offer.
He told me two weeks ago that Tilmon and Williams had committed to Groce. Like most of us, I know how shaky that can be. However, Williams came through with the verbal commit which gives me hope that perhaps Tilmon will, too. Groce has a relationship with Tilmon that goes back several years. But we also know that a blueblood can often sneak in late and change everything. That happened to Iowa two years ago with Ulis.
First and foremost, this looks like a down year again for the state of Illinois as a whole but a lot can change. I'm glad it's not a year we're trying to fill a lot of slots and that we have an inside track on the best player.
Secondly, did anyone else notice that 2017 Michael Porter's younger brother, Johnta Porter is already committed to Washington, yet Michael hasn't made a decision yet?
Lorenzo Romar is good friends of the family. I heard he played ball at some point with Mr. Porter and Lorenzo is actually Johnta's godfather. I have even heard that Mr. Porter was offered an assistant job at University of Washington, but I cannot verify that rumor.

I believe Lorenzo Romar is actually Michael Porter Jr. 's godfather, not his bother's Jontay's. It was not a rumor that Romar offered an assistant's position to Michael Porter Sr., which Porter turned down. It happened last spring. They have been very close family friends. Michael Porter Sr. is actually the assistant basketball coach at Missouri women's basketball team, where his sister in law Robin Pingeton is the head coach and two of his daughters play basketball. Talk about one connected family.
Michael Porter is still heavily recruited by Washington, Mizzou, Kansas and a myriad of others. But it would be one huge blow if he ends up at Kansas, when his father is an assistant coach at Mizzou.
