I keep hearing bigger names being mentioned as OC. I think Tim Brewster would be a good fit as OC.(although he is kind of know to be a jerk) He would bring in a good recruiter also. I think I may like him better than Tedford. Although Tedford would be OK also.

I see Leslie Frazier as out of our league for DC. Seems more likely to be Phair. Also we all know Lovie will be controlling the D anyway.

If he's going to lose his 10 mil from the Bucks my guess is 5 year at 15 mil.

It makes no sense whatsoever he would lose his whole deal with TB . It makes perfect sense his salary from a football coaching job would be subtracted from his deal , but the whole thing ?

We'll find out pretty soon .

Anyone still wishing we would have hired Babers 3 months ago ? Funny how sometimes , the best moves are the ones not made .

Anyone think George could have / would have gotten this deal done on day 1?

Slight bit of coincidence that both Lovie and the Illini are moving on from a forgettable "TB" situation previously.

I think we need to keep several people from the old staff. Bellamy and scheelhase for their illinois connections, Phair for his Lovie connection and to give us continuity on defense and hecklinski for his recruiting skills. Am I missing anyone?

I understand your feeling but Lovie is going to do this on his terms. I'd love to see him keep Nate and Bellamy, but not sure how realistic it is.

So, let's see. A month before they announce the hiring? This will show me the difference between before and having Whitman running things now.

Great hire , if it comes to be ! I have been following Illinois since Harry wore red socks and no coach has had the resume Lovie has ! The press is blasting the hire because he dislikes them , well I'm fine with that . The bottom line is HE WILL WIN !

Did anyone see the news gazette this morning? I can't link it but they are negative on this whole thing.

Overall positive. Just one writer being negative about Cubit being fired right after he talked to him. Cubit is a like able guy.

I am still stunned this morning. But I woke up and put my money where my mouth is. I went to the IFund page and tripled my financial commitment to the Beloved.

If you can give a few dollars or a few thousand. If you are shocked that this if FINALLY happening in our lifetime, it is time to pony up.

What JFW is doing fliesdirectly in the face of what old Loren Tate has been saying for as long as I have been alive. " Illinois can't compete."

Loren, you're wrong. Illinois can compete, we've just never had an AD with the balls to do so. Now we do. :shield:

Tate was not negative.

You keep Bellamy, Hecklinski, and Phair. Nate needs to be a learn the ropes at a WKU type school first.

I see your point, but until Lovie puts on an Illinois cap, I'm not sure I would say he got any deal done.

I'm waiting to restart my donations until Lovie signs the deal and his assistants are brought in. After that I will donate. I will tell them why I left and I will tell them why I came back.

Tate was not negative.

Maybe not today, but I can remember countless SMS before a game saying how Illinois couldn't compete consistently with the Ohio states and the Michigans .

I always said "Why not? We're the 5th largest state in the union and we need to start acting like it . "

Thank you Lord that I got to live long enough to see this day. . I can only think what my friend Gary Ludwig would be thinking if he were alive today.

So, I guess I should be worried that I feel 100% confident that he is the coach. I will be shell shocked for life if he doesn't end up here.
