Goodwin plays with a fire that our team sorely lacks.A team leader.Sure hope we land him but have my doubts under our current regime.
Sitting center court today and two things I noticed: 1. Manual's coaching is horrible. They beat that team if a group of us coached them today. How can you not run set plays in the final minutes of a final four game?!
2. Goodwin is as advertised and Rako is too. Rako should have gotten at least one T if not two. Total head case out there and in light of recent events, we don't need anymore of those.
Also, that Piper tweet on Williams saying our character issues are a little bit concerning is not good. Hopefully he stays committed.

So they're worried that he might do something to get arrested if comes here? I can't believe that if he's an upstanding person that he'll be negatively influenced by players that are on the team now. Heck, Nunn and Tate won't even be here by the time he enrolls, if he does decide to come here.
And he's friends with Pickett and Goodwin, yes? Have all 3 come here and they can watch out for each other.

His mom indeed sounds very worried and it's not good for us. And she has right to be. The culture of the basketball program seems extremely toxic right now and why would you want to send your kid into that?

What do you expect the recruits to say? That they are not concerned. Crean and Indiana had something like 11 off court issues. Remember 1-2 years ago when one player ran the other player by accident. Izzo went through a couple of years where he had issues that were worse than what is going on here. He had 2-3 star players accused of serious charges. Duke just ran off 2 players recently as well.
My recommendation is that the "culture" of sexual assault, domestic violence, and respect for the student body and community be addressed by all athletic participants. We had softball player accused of anti-semitic pranks recently and football players get in trouble in the past. They should get training and sign a contract that they will uphold the values. This is what is being done by private cooperations and the military. A warning to all athletes that there second chance has gone to the "field" already. Crimes such as assualt (sexual assualt, violence, domestic violence) will lead to loss of scholarship and dismissal from school.

This is something that Groce and possibly Whitman will address with recruits. If Whitman was around during the Williams commitment I expect him to be around when/if Goodwin and Tilmon visit.

Saw enough of Goodwin as a sophomore (video) to realize he is ready out of the box. I agree, don't worry about position with him, he is a winner and competitor.

IMO Playing for third place will really show what kind of character he has. Has to get up for a relatively meaningless game.

This is a little irrelevant but I was scrolling through 24/7 and saw Kentucky had 5 players in the top ten in their 2013 class and none of those kids have won a national championship. As badly as I want to have a monster 2017 class it doesn't guarantee anything. Just something I was thinking about, not to say that I'm not optimistic about Tilmon and Co.
Not totally meaningless. They get to end their season with a win. Second place can't say that.

In other words a way to get a high major offer so other high majors will take notice and in turn get more high major offers where I will pick someone other than Illinois.

Alexander - Poor year at Kansas, leaves team, doesn't get drafted in NBA when he was projected #2 before freshman year started.
Snider - Playing well his sophomore year, but no NCAA due to team's self-imposed ban. More sanctions could be coming.
Evans - Great freshman year, gets hurt and misses end of season. Team is poor, coach gets fired.
E. Thomas - Non-Factor on a good A&M team, quits team.
LoVett - ineligible for St. John's, worst team in Big East.
Brunson - Very good season on Top 10 team.
Mixed results, both in individual and team performances. Kind of a downer overall, though. Brunson the only one who's contributed to an NCAA contender (non-sanctioned).
