That I can believe...guilty!Like wow, I can't believe how many times people can fall for the same things here.
How do you guys feel about Evan Gilyard?
Not a big fan of his game.
Not a big fan of his game.
I'm worried that we're not going to have scholarships for Scruggs, Wilkes and Bowen.
Goodwin looks like the type of player that can lift a team.
I haven't ever seen Goodwin playing in regular game footage (only some highlights), but the way he is described by many (winner, tough as nails, competitor, may not have a clear position but that doesn't matter) reminds me a lot of the way Sergio McClain was described. Can someone make the case that Jordan's game will translate to college better than Sergio's? What are their similarities/differences?
Thanks.
At the 2:27 mark, that's what Illinois needs. Watching the tourney this week it's crazy to see these talented point gaurds get to the bucket and create.
I don't remember seeing this posted... if so, sorry!

I think the risk with Gilyard is that his offensive game doesn't develop and we're left with another PG that teams don't have to guard. Not saying that's definitely what Gilyard will be by the time he gets to college, but that's the risk. He also doesn't have the passing vision at this point that you might want from an elite PG.
That being said, there might not be a better on-ball defender is the state than Gilyard. He's really capable of shutting down talented players. He did it to Charlie Moore and Te'Jon Lucas (for most of their game) this season.
The summer is going to be huge for Gilyard. If he can show the ability to knock down outside shots consistently and setup teammates, then I think we need to take a real serious look at him.

One thing seems sure at this point, if we choose not to offer he will go to a Dayton-type program and help them make the tournament every year while we falter.
As a matter of fact, Miller phoned Henricksen about point guards, Joe recommended Gilyard, Dayton offered the first game they saw him and have been after him very hard, so your scenario is quite plausible. (As related on a NoShotClock earlier this year.)
