Never understood Crandall. I saw him as a Soph when he was in the suburbs. He was really good. Not only athletic, but pretty skilled. Then he transfers to the Public League, blows out his knee and he never looked remotely the same.

It was weird - like the injury not only affected his athleticism, but also his skills.

That's weird, I always picture you wearing a referee jersey. ;)

Here you go.

Back to actual recruiting discussion, Pickett is far taller than the listed 6'3" when we recruited him. I hope the attached picture works.

Pickett is about Malcolm's height of 6-6. He's not 6-3.

Only way Pickett would outgrow Malcolm would be if he had a growth spurt similar to Finke's where he went from 6-7 to 6-10.

Understand everything, but, does not MHill + Mom not just watching, but sitting right behind Grove, at the finals, count? How much more of a confidence vote, from a solid parent, would Grove need?

Dekker was a five star recruit. Chastain is barely on the radar.

He looks quicker and more athletic against weaker competition. It is relative. Would he adjust to better competition. I think so, but it is not a given. I'm sure coaches want to see him against tougher players.

Don't get me wrong. I would be fine with Chastain at UI. However, there has been a lot of hyperbole about him on the board.

Bouncing around cyberspace today I came across this 18min condensed video of Chino Hills (CA) high school vs. Mater Dei, from earlier this year. Chino Hills has a trio of brothers, a senior, a junior and a freshman point guard (so far), who are just destroying people. #1 ranked team in the country. And they are ALL committed to UCLA. Ugh. The youngest, a 2019 point guard, has been playing U17 AAU ball since he was 11.

Nothing to do with Illinois recruiting, I know, but for high school basketball fans, this video, where the beat Mater Dei by 50+, is impressive. Interior passing, and touch passing like we never seen from our Illini...

Jerry Meyer was gaga over the Ball brothers all year. Can see why from that video.

The white Jesus Shuttleworth.

Invite him, have him scrimmage with the players and see if he holds his own. Nothing to lose, although I have no clue if an audition like that is kosher.

I think what you're more or less describing is obligatory walk-on tryouts.

The senior, Lonzo, is 6'6" PG who is a MCDAA and actually averaged a triple double this season. I don't care what level it's on, if you average a triple double, that's pretty impressive.

Not that rare. Back in the day I had a lot of triple doubles, except is it was
1. Minutes per game
2. Missed shots.
3. Turnovers.

But still.......

It would great to be able to have a La Lumiere pipeline because Tyger Campbell is one of the best young guards i've ever seen.

I think I was at some of your games:D:D

I think I may have been one of GVF's defenders during that span of triple doubles. So you can thank me Gov for helping you achieve some of those milestones! :thumb:

NEW: 6'4 Jordan Goodwin Goes Beast Mode! Illinois Top Jr leads Althoff To First State Title! http://ballislife.com/jordan-goodwin/

Thanks for the articles.

Just on toughness and compete level, there is no one I have enjoyed watching more at the state championships since Sergio McClain. I'm not saying "best performance" (Probably Brunson) or "best player", but just sheer will-to-win. Very different games, but just an intimidating presence. When games get tough, there are a limited number of dudes that can bring a team back by sheer will.

No idea where Goodwin goes to school, but I just think his tenacity will make his program a winner. I'll cheer no matter where he lands
