Place a bet, loser has to change their picture

Haha I like that. My point is that either way I'm not going to immediately drop all hope because of one thing but I also don't assume he is ours. Being pessimistic or crazy optimistic the whole time is not a fun way to follow this team.

I don't think UK has offered yet, they also have a couple big men committed for 16 and are close with two others in 17. Cal has been recruiting Bowen pretty hard who does have an offer. Let's hope that visit was more for Bowen than Tilmon.

Perfect way to go about this. And with or without Tilmon they will still be the Illini

Brief diversion of topic. For some of the old guard around here, how in the heck did Henson pull Derek Harper out of Florida when he did? The Illini were terrible in those days

You all realize UK would rather have Ayton or Carter over Tilmon. They are doing due diligence in case those two choose Duke and KU respectively. I think Tilmon would commit long before those two but the UK way is to wait until their top targets make decisions because of their high hit rate. Usually don't take third choices. I don't think Tilmon makes it to summer AAU without committing.

Illinois was on the rise when they pulled in Harper. Henson had recruited Eddie Johnson and Mark Smith a couple of years earlier. Their sophomore year, Illinois started 15-0 and beat the number one team (MSU) with Magic Johnson before slumping after losing their point guard. The next year, they won 22 games. Then Henson added Harper, jc Craig Tucker, James Griffin to go along with Johnson, Smith, Derek Holcomb, Perry Range and they became one of the best teams in the league. After Harper's sophomore year, Henson got a top 5 class with Bruce Douglas, Efrem Winters, Doug Altenberger, Scott Meents and Henson really had Illinois back.

So, short answer, Illinois was already good when Harper committed, and he helped the program make another jump.

You beat me to it. Lou inherited a mess. It took him a few years to get his ducks lined up, but when he did we were consistently good.

You mean there's another way?

My friends, now is not the time for panic. Now is the time for resolve and optimism. Even if you think it is hopeless optimism, have faith and enjoy it. I think some amazing players will be joining the two studs we already have committed in the 2017 class.

If something happens and it doesn't work out, Josh Whitman is now the caretaker of our program. Great times are ahead.

Go watch some highlights of Frank Williams and get ready, enjoy life. The Illini are coming back!

I think Dan just makes user names, throws out a big old carrot, and waits for the click to start coming! ;)
